I was thinking about robbery to get money to gamble

Quoting Al Pacino in "Two For The Money": "You know what's wrong with us? We're lemons. We don't wanna win. We go to the casinos to lose. And we can't just lose a little, we have to lose big, in order to feel something." Not an exact quote, but from memory the message is still the same.

    Playin with Headphones

I usually take my iPod with me with some high dollar ear buds that cancel out noise and have good sound quality. Juuuust in case I walk into a bar or pool hall and someone's playing some Plies or Katie Perry song...or some other nonsense. If no music is playing, I'll usually go drop some money...

Need Help with a Name for a Pool Room in Florida

Regardless of the name chosen, I think it's only appropriate that you have a sign outside that says, "Liquor in the front, Poker in the rear."

    Etiquette question

Well, I look at it this way, it's the same to me as someone bumping or kicking the table when their object ball rests on the tip of the pocket. The only reason someone would hit the table like that, is to shift things from what I see. Work with your league director to go over the option and...

    Playing at the highest level

Regardless of how good you are, there's always a chance that someone's going to rise up to challenge your skill. Personally, I couldn't really imagine being the greatest player in the world, because I don't think the game would be a much fun. But really, I don't know, maybe it still would be...

Earl will be the next Fats

Seriously, don't even go there. While Earl is undeniably a good player...there's noone that can replace Fats. My personal opinion: You don't have to like a player to acknowledge their skill. But that's like saying Peyton Manning will replace Dan Marino as a great quarterback. You can't replace...

Some pool related pics from the quake

That's good to hear everyone was all right. I think the coolest thing about the story is how the pool halls there let regulars hang their sticks on the wall. I do this at some pool halls and bars but not often. Good to see there are still trustworthy places around though.

Pool Table Cake my daughter made

Dang, she should be in a big time cake shop or something. That's awesome! Good thing you took pictures though. Seriously, looks so good I don't know if I'd be able to bring myself to eat it haha. P.S.: That cue looks a little warped hehe

    Hazards of knocking cue

Break cues are designed specifically to accommodate the force needed to use it. Regular cues are more subject to warp easily. Note, I mentioned it could become potentialy warped, certainly from repeat abuse and miscare. I'm not saying if you drop you're stick you're going to ruin it.

    Hazards of knocking cue

From what I've been told and read, banging the butt of a cue against a hard surface can cause it to warp slightly, especially when dropped. Add that to it falling and the tip striking a surface on the way down, such as the edge of a table, to cause the cue to bow and flex. I certainly don't...

Howcome I'm so lousy on a bar box???

Hmmm....usually for me it's the opposite. I've noticed that I play a lot better after going from a big table(usually regulation in pool halls) to a bar table. This is because the pockets on a bar table are bigger and there's generally less clothe. Sometimes if you go from an atmosphere such as...

    Hazards of knocking cue

Pretty much the most damage that is likely from what I've seen through personal experience, is that the cue could become slightly warped. This happens if it hits the floor, or falls over and smashing into something else, like the edge of a table. Sometimes the cue will bow and rattle which can...

    Unique Pool table games

Cut throat is probably my favourite. You play with, idealy, three people. Someone breaks, open after the break, but when they sink one after the break they have to call a sequence such as 1-5, 6-10, 11-15. Once you claim a sequence, your object is to sink your opponents balls(don't have to...

Anyone in or around NW Florida?

Bump, bump, bump it up! I recently started playing again, but there's not all to many people around to shoot here it seems. Free pool all day Monday at one spot I frequent, so if you're in the area let me know.

    A Modest Proposal

My whole take on this topis is that you don't have to be a celebrity to be a professional player. However, if you're playing the sport to be a star, certain etiquite is expected from players just like in any other sport. You're in front of cameras, you're getting media attention. Don't make an...

Cues Stollen Story with a Twist

I really don't understand how people try to steal things so often from casinos. You'd think by now they'd realize how many cameras these places have. Unbelievable, but glad to hear you got your cues and case back.
