    Earl Strickland Cue Angle

Like Oliver Ortmann ? Honestly, regardless of how someone addressed the CB, studying a particular stroke and thinking it is more or less correct than another, is useless because it works for them has nothing to do if it will work for the next guy. There are certainly mainstream guidelines to...

Chance encounter with a pool player

Back in the late 60s a very popular game that straight pool players enjoyed was called 1 Ball. (at least that's what we called it). It's a single rack game with all the rules of straight pool except to win the rack you had to be the first player to put the 1 ball in your side pocket. (each...

Can you be too smart to play good pool?

I certainly think we can be overly analytical while shooting, which gets in the way of allowing the shot to happen. All those dummies out there never even consider all the things that could go wrong with a shot.

    Free Bad Stream And Sponsors

I have an up to date i7 computer with 16gigs of memory, a very fast wired cable internet. I never have issues with live streams.... that is unless the stream is via Ustream, then it sucks consistently.

Yet Another Opinion On The Hustlers Debut...

I saw the re-run sat at 11pm. Its difficult to review the as an average non pool player or casual player would, so I won't. From my perspective what glared out to me was the corny color of money camera shots that were obviously staged. Also the blatantly fake arguments and shoving, and...

    TOI is English/Spin

What CJ is trying to explain in terms of angle and cancelling friction induced CB spin does make sense if you can play with feel. The only inaccurate thing he said is its HIS TOI, cause its mine.

What causes glazing on a cue tip??

Hitting the tip over and over compresses the leather, not unlike stomping on your soil over and over before you try to plant your garden, which is where I'm headed now. :D My garden tip tapper is a tiller.

    Another room chasing players away?

You may be referring to guidelines regarding restaurant licensing vs cafe licensing vs bar licensing, some are more expensive than others as is the insuring .

Alternative to keeping score with coins under the rails

Back in the 70's there was another guy who played with knitting, not too many questioned him though. :)

    Just going to vent some.....

Interesting thoughts. I've been playing this game for over 50 years and never gave a cue over 150 bucks or so any thought. :) IMO a custom cue is a cue not made in a high production factory that the buyer has to pay a lot of money for before he ever sees it, let alone gets to try it. Then...

Some Of the Worst Advice Given On AZB

Those are very pretty shoes Joey, but, how do you play after the batteries in those things wear out?:killingme::thud:

Are heavy cues the least desirable?

I always considered 18.5 to 20 oz to be the high and low ends of standard weights so I wouldn't think of a 20 oz cue as a heavy cue. Anyway, I like mine at just about 19.25. Much heavier and I don't like the feel of the transition from backstroke to forward stroke as much.

Pros That Run Tours & Play In Them?

I think it's fine. Organizing a tournament and getting paid to do so is one thing, an entirely different thing than playing in one.

I made a vision center alignment board

For a quick way, find any book about 1 1/2 or so inches thick, and a piece of 8x11 printer paper. Draw a line down the length of the paper, fold it over in half, then back again the thickness of your book, and place it over the book.

Eye Movement: Do You Look at OB when Stroking?

I guess I'm getting old, I don't know this player, nor have I ever seen this clip either, but I know there are lots of ways to pattern your eyes. There is the way she explained it, and lots of wrong ways. Thanks for the link.

    Hats Off To Jay Helfert

Yeah, but that's because the politicians make millions on a crooked deal while we'd probably only make 50 bucks ... it just ain't worth it.

    Hats Off To Jay Helfert

Well said! Its simply human nature. Those who think otherwise may not have been exposed to their individual threshold yet. :D
