    Drexline Qualifier

Jack, Sorry for the delayed response. What's the main game around where you live? Hopefully, there are at least a few 14.1 players nearby so that you can get into some regular games. I started playing in a 14.1 league this year for the first time, and so was able to meet some strong...

    Drexline Qualifier

Hi Dennis, Until recently, I never posted very much, but I read a lot and have enjoyed your posts in this forum. Unfortunately, the timing of the NJ and NY qualifiers don't work out for me. Not sure I'm really in shape for tournaments anyway, and played the Drexeline qualifier sort of on a...

    Drexline Qualifier

Matt and I had a long, tough, close match, with neither of us putting anything together in the beginning. At the end, we both woke up a little, but he kept his concentration up throughout and, especially at the end, made me pay for mistakes. I had never met Matt before, but he's a good player...

    Great Poolroom

My pleasure. You'll enjoy it. You can call ahead if you like ((610) 259-9144) to see if Bob will be there. Maybe he'll be able to line up a game for you, if you need one.

    Great Poolroom

I forgot to mention that Drexeline has two Diamond bar tables for people who want to practice for Valley Forge or any other bar box tournaments!

    Great Poolroom

I don't post a lot, but I just went to Drexeline Billiards (http://www.drexelinebilliards.com/) in Drexel Hill, PA for the first time and was blown away. I had been meaning to get there for over a year, since meeting Bob Maidhoff, the owner, at Peter Burrows' Maryland Open tournament. I'm...

    Red Shoes Qualifier

Thank you, Rich. I've only met George once, at a Gallery of American Cue Art event held at the NY Athletic Club back in 1999. We only met for a few minutes, and I doubt he remembers. Also got to see Dan Dishaw there, another friend of Babe's. I think that was the first time I had met Dan...

    Red Shoes Qualifier

It sounds like the Red Shoes Qualifier was a great event. It takes so much effort and financial investment from a room owner/operator to run a tournament, and I hope that this tournament pays big dividends for the folks at Red Shoes. I have family in the Chicago area, and the next time I'm out...

    has pool ruined your life?

Pool has enhanced my life. I've met some of the best people I've ever met through pool -- too many to mention. The game and the situations that come up around the game can bring out the best in people and the worst, and most times I've seen the best. Also, no matter where you are in the...

    BillieBilliards.com New Update

BillieBilliards.com Great website, Billie! It records some of the best times in pool's more recent history, and it was particularly interesting to read about the early years in the life of the WPBA from someone who was such an important part of it. I've also enjoyed your photos in Billiards...

    straight pool dvds

Hello Ted! FYI, also sent you a private message (or tried to -- my technical skills are not fantastic). It's been a while, so thought I should try to catch up with you. Hope all is well. Had been away from playing regularly for a few years, but then got lucky (!) and broke my arm playing...

    straight pool dvds

recommended 14.1 video It's not a DVD, but I'd recommend the Dan Barouty - Steve Lipsky match that Steve has posted on vimeo -- see http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=221080&highlight=barouty There is excellent playing and excellent information on this video. Plus, if you like the...

Re-Worked Phillippi Cue Before and After

This came out nicely! Like the cue in its original condition and I'm not usually a "wrapless" fan, but whoever picked out the contrasting wood, inlays, and the design elements did a great job. The After picture is definitely more striking than the Before. Nicely done by Rick. I had the...

    Titlist conversion for sale

Very nice cue ... and given what it takes to buy a Brunswick Titlist these days (even before paying a cuemaker to convert it), you've listed it at a very fair price! Also like how the dash pattern is carried from the joint collars down through the back end of the cue.

    Hoppe Titlist Conversion on Ebay

This is a nice looking conversion by a well-recognized cuemaker, plus it has very distinctive details on the points! Best of luck with the sale.

Donation List for the 2011 Valley Forge 14.1 Challenge

Charlie, I sent you a check, which should arrive soon. You, Steve, and Heather deserve a lot of credit for your hard work and dedication! You all seemed sleep-deprived ... but enthusiastic! ... during last year's event. See you next week! All the best, Larry Moy

A new old cue by Tom Migliore of TNS Cues

Titlist conversion Thanks, Josh -- high praise from someone who isn't usually a fan of Titlist conversions! I always loved looking at conversions on this site and some Rambow conversions I got to see in person, so I was happy to see this cue become a reality. Larry

Archer/Varner Clinic in Indy - hard to believe

Sounds like a great opportunity. Even the other pros acknowledge that Nick V is one of the best all-around players of all time. He could play all of the games, and there were some years when he seemed to win every tournament he played in! Archer is another one of the most accomplished players...
