    Boston area pool rooms

"Where have all the pool players gone? Long time passing. Where have all the pool players gone? Long time ago. Where have all the pool players gone? Gone to casinos everyone. When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?":(

Cue stolen in bar: who is responsible?

No way is it the bar's responsibility, I don't care if it happened a 100 times. If the bar had a cue check room and he checked it in then it becomes the bar's responsibility.

Well the rest of us ARE pro players, what are you doing here?:wink:

    What is feel aiming?

Don't people EVER get tired of this boring topic. I think "aim by feel" is a misnomer. I think what people are referring to with that term is just knowing when you are aimed properly by what you are seeing. Some lucky gifted people can literally naturally just see the shot from the time they...

OMGWTF gets stiffed in money game...

You quite obviously don't know OMG. She is a righteous person. She literally worked overtime to save the money for this match. She wouldn't play a match she didn't know upfront she could cover. She was only guilty of being too trusting of somebody who obviously didn't deserve that trust.

Checking Interest in modern design pool clothing?

I think there are plenty of people selling shirts out there, but more can't hurt at least from my perspective. I'm just a t-shirt guy when it comes to marked up shirts. I don't want to spend the cost of a good polo shirt and have some graphic on it. Hell I don't even like to have a trademark of...

OMGWTF gets stiffed in money game...

That really sucks. Melinda would never do that no matter how much the lose would hurt her.

    Golf more exciting than Pool?

For starters there are a great deal more people who play or played golf, thereby increasing the starting fan base. I think the main reason however is that unlike pool tv coverage they can flip from match to match. In pool when there is dead time on tv you either watch it or get smacked in the...

How many cues do you own?

I have about a dozen and a half. I have played with all of them at least a few times.

    Irish linen grip too slippery

Cork is another good option. Real nice feel and just the right amount of friction.

Dress Code for Gold Crown Billiards, Erie, PA

No, I mean people don't wear suits to the movies anymore. People don't wear suits out to dinner anymore. How you dress does send a message I agree, but I don't think how one dresses has the least bit to do with moral values. Clothing doesn't mean a thing at all about the quality of a person...

Dress Code for Gold Crown Billiards, Erie, PA

I'm 64 years old and wouldn't be caught dead dressing in most of the items listed on your sign, but I've got to say that list is absolutely ridiculous. Why don't you just ask everyone to wear tuxedos... It isn't 1950 anymore.

Pausing at the cue ball vs pausing on the back stroke

I endeavor (I think successfully) to us Randy's SPF process. When I'm shooting well I don't notice if I'm doing it but pretty sure I am. When I'm playing poorly generally I notice I'm not doing it and I make a conscious effort to use it and it helps me get back on track. Therefore I guess I'd...

    "8 ball is real pool."

Playing 1P is one thing, but watching it really is like watching paint dry. :)

    "8 ball is real pool."

I run into very few people who say that about 8-ball, most people who say that are saying 9-ball or 1p or 14-1 are the only "real" games. Personally I don't enjoy 9-ball either, but that doesn't reduce the validity of it as a game. All games are valid with the possible exception of games of 7...

A 3rd contender in the Gold Crown vs. Diamond debate

I played in a place for many years that had Connelly Ultimates. They held up just find and they were a pleasure to play on except for the sometimes lack of maintenace by the owners. With the 2 inch slate they were whisper quiet. Gold Crowns are fine, but I fail to see any great advantage over...

Joint protectors - are they essential?

Not in my opinion. I have joint protectors on all my cues, but I consider them in the same light as veneers, inlays, etc.; they're decorative. JMHO.
