I would instead encourage them to try to improve their stroke mechanics and draw shot technique. I certainly wouldn’t want them to lose the benefits that OB-last focus provides. 🤓

Try to wax the CB to see if that makes a difference. As I mentioned, the cloth in my cushions is very new, so that could have something to do with it (but I doubt it). Also, if you post a video of the shot (maybe with unwaxed and waxed CBs), that might shed some light on things.

Did you try to set it up just like in the video, and gradually increase speed with a high tip?

It is covered in detail in the section starting at the 5:11 point. It is just maximum topspin with medium-fast speed. I think my CB and cloth conditions are typical (except the cloth on the cushions is fairly new).
