We Need A Mens Pro Tour

There's 1 major hinderance about getting a Men's pool tour on TV... there's just too many tours and events up and running, in order for any kind of TV network to decide which is the most played on tour with the highest number of top shooters that are recogniseable on TV :) The Men's pro circuit...

    8ft -vs- 9ft

Now there's an interesting question that is related to the thread, what table size were these new record runs meant to have been made on? :) I didn't hear anything of Babe Cranfield breaking Mosconi's 526, but it wouldn't suprise me if he did :) As reguards Mike Eufernia's 625, any record run...

    8ft -vs- 9ft

I've played straight pool on the heavier barbox type cloth and I think it's a better cloth to use for shooting straight pool than using the modern day faster cloths :) In fact, I ran 104 (Unfinished) on a 9ft Sam K-Steel with the heavier wool barbox type cloth on it :) I don't think the cloth...

    8ft -vs- 9ft

Yeah :) lol, some of the world title Straigh Pool matches were played to 3,000 and were played over 2 week periods and they would normally be played on "Blocks" over that 2 week period, but I think that they only played on 4/5 days of each week, I remember it was mentioned in an old BCA rule...

    Ronnie To Keep Playing

This is only a small insight as to the kind of guy that Ronnie is :) Alot of people find it all too easy to put Ronnie down in times when he is depressed and feels like quitting, which is understandable because they don't really know how to understand Ronnie as a person, and not just some guy...

    8ft -vs- 9ft

I agree with you wholeheartedly on that Mully  It kinda disappoints me that Straight Pool isn't played more often at high level, alot of top pro are missing out on a vast education of knowledge from playing straight pool and other games like One Pocket, which in my eyes is much better...

    8ft -vs- 9ft

Amen to that  It's kinda hard to believe though that with the amount of high calibre pool players that are around nowadays, that no-one has yet beaten Mosconi's record run, after all, records are made to be broken :) Willie

    8ft -vs- 9ft

There are a few things to consider about when thinking about the difference between running balls on a 8ft or 9ft table :) 1. As 3andstop has mentioned, shooting on a smaller table means there is a little less table space to enjoy, which means that the traffic is a little more conjested on an...

Comments and Questions on the Harriman 280

I was wondering that also Mully, but I think that Dave might be thinking of High runs that have been recorded on video, or you may be right that it may be only runs that were made on a 9ft table that we're talking about here :) lol I could make thing more interesting by talking about the 309...

Comments and Questions on the Harriman 280

There are 7 players in Europe that seem to stand out a little bit above from the rest in my mind, when it comes to Straight Pool :) Thorsten Hohman Thomas Engert Ralf Souquet Oliver Ortman Niels Feijin Nick Van Den Berg Alex Lely Jasmin Ouschan These strike me as being the most consitstent and...

Comments and Questions on the Harriman 280

I'm not sure that Niels Feijin had a 256, but Nick Van Den Berg has the highest SP run in Europe with 293 :) I don't know if there's any video of the run or not, but I'll have a look around and see if there are any sites that have the high run video :) EDIT:- I've had a quick search on google...

    Video of 2008 14.1 Championship ?

I totally understand and appreciate that there is an incredible amount of work, time and effort that goes into setting up a tournament of any kind, but if a WC event is being set up, the organisers should make the most of every oppertunity to promote the tournament and also the sport as a whole...

Video: Break Ball off the stack

Lmao, that is an absolute classic Dave, I've had that same reaction as well on a few occasions, which is usually followed by the question... "What the heck am I doing? " :) lol I've not watched the video yet, but I have on occasion play a break ball off the stack if in a situation that I'm...

    Straight Pool Polo Shirt Available

I would like to make a suggestion to make the shirt a bit more appealing in a way :) Why not have the 14.1 logo on the front and then have a large picture of the traditaional Straight Pool break shot on the back? :) The olympic logo is a good one, especially if a player was competeing in the...

    Snooker taking a dive.

Hey guys :) From what I breifly read from the link posted above, it looks like the WPBSA have done a good thing by buiolding up a reserve bankroll, just in case, but the question I wonder is, how long will that ?4M last, esapecially with the prize payouts that are given at top level snooker...
