Where Do I Get A Marker Gizmo?

Try those loose-leaf reinforce stick-ons. They stay put when damp and lift right off when you're done. You can mark CB and OB. Troy

Is poker doing in the pool business? Another closing.

Yes, there was an initial down-turn of business. However, people became accustomed to the smoking ban and business returned to normal within 1-2 years. The smokers just go outside. Like it or not (and I'm a smoker), the majority are non-smokers by a huge margin and the majority write the rules...

    One Pocket

I've been suggesting to 9-Ballers and 8-Ballers for years that 1-Pocket will help their game and I mostly got laughed at --- until they tried..... Amazing, ain't it... :) Troy

Is poker doing in the pool business? Another closing.

You wouldn't listen if I told you the results from California's ban on smoking that was passed in 1994, but fully enacted in 1998 (the first in the country) so I won't bother. Troy

    opinions needed on slate

Don't run away from a table with a 3-piece slate. All the better tables use 3 pieces -- Brunswick, Diamond, etc. The slate seams are perfectly matched by experienced Table Mechanics using Bondo®. Some seem to prefer beeswax, but I don't know why. Troy

    Best Shaft Cleaner ?

Using sufficient lighter fluid (or any liquid) to damage the glue line is over-doing it to say the least. Simply MOISTEN a soft dry cloth, do NOT drown it. Troy

    Best Shaft Cleaner ?

Magic Eraser® is specifically NOT recommended on bare wood (read the label). Wax has a tendency to become sticky from hand oil, etc. I use either Lighter fluid with a soft cloth, or Simple Green® diluted with 2 parts water with a soft cloth. Either way, just dampen the first cloth and rub down...

What's going on at the Sands Regency in Reno?

No "like" about it. Ernesto has won by scores of 9-2, -1, -4, -1, -6, -6. Mike has done a great job of posting the info on the brackets !!!

    Shimmed Pockets?

Your example is exactly what I meant by saying the "truely "correct" way is to lengthen the rubber". Ernesto and a guy in NorCal are two of the best, but you should expect to pay for their service. Troy

    Shimmed Pockets?

Making your table "double shimmed" should yield close to 4 1/2" corner pockets (1/4" shims on the end of each rail rubber). Two balls will barely pass or will jam depending on how precisely the table was to 5" corners to start. You may notice a "thud" when a ball hits the extra shim. I wouldn't...

Ask either guy this question --- You'll get the wrong directions --- "If I was to ask directions from the other guy, what would HE say ?" Ask either guy this question -- You'll get the correct directions -- "If I was to have asked you yesterday, what would you have said ?" Troy

    Which tip??

I've been using a Talisman Pro Soft on my every day cue for about 5 years. and I'm only on the 2nd tip -- they last great. No mushroom, little if any shaping. Most of my customers have also converted to Talisman from Moori. $20 installed is my going rate in Nor Cal. Troy

    One Pocket questions

#1.. Yes, you could call it a "DOUBLE WHAMMY". #2.. Yes, spot the balls so they are frozen. Back to your original question on spotting balls -- They are spotted behind the line as close a possible (touching, but NOT moving position of previous balls). Keep moving toward the foot rail. If there...

why i gamble poker not pool

I disagree... It takes a certain amount of skill whether it be $4/$8 or No Limit. Obviously, no one can play without decent cards. I would play against you any time with your attitude... :)

I don't know where you can buy a tape of one game. Check out www.onepocket.com for loads of info on the great game of One Pocket. Specifically, look for Tape #1 from Willie Jopling in the "Marketplace". It's good for a beginner. Troy
