What's going on at the Sands Regency in Reno?

i have a friend down there right now, and i just found out that the power is out. he said it went out about 45 min ago and they expect it out for at least 3 hours. so i dont think we will hear anything until much later tonight...

Keep the thread updated - I was supposed to go but had last minute important issues that kept me away :(

Anyone got a list of players?

I'm glad to see local pro (Vancouver Canada) Mike Vidas is doing so well winning all his matches. He plays Tony Chohan next. Anyone familiar with Tony's game?

Mike is a good upcoming young pro, a good sport with a good attitude.Wishing him well.RJ

A Fantastic Match.....!!!!

Jimmy.... I watched your match Wednesday night with (I hope I'm getting his name right!!) Ernesto Galindez (apologies if I messed it up bad). It was one of the best matches I have ever, ever seen. When he made the 1 ball (that was a hell of a shot in that situation), went thru the rack and then got corned hooked on the side pocket on the 8 - I just about had the big one! He kicks at the 8 - hits it and leaves you a tough thin cut for all the marbles. When you made that shot ((( guys it was a tough, tough cut and it went in without even touching the rail))) & then knocked in the 9 - it just doesn't get much better. You are one pool playing stud and I hope you win the whole damn thing!!!!!

Tony "T-Rex" Chohan is a young player in his twenties from California. Though he enjoys one-pocket, he plays all games. I think of him as a strong player, and in that venue, he is capable of winning if his game is on! In a tournament, though, anything can happen, as we all know! ;)

Jose Parica looks like he's still hanging in on the A side. 192 players in total. Wow, what a big field!

Tony gambles quite a bit so he doesn't rattle. He's a very good player. Him and his cousin Amar both are capable of beating just about anyone in a tournament. I think Amar is a better 9b player and Tony is the better 1h player. They go into a poolroom together and they're capable of getting the 1h and 9b action and no one has to like it.

Thanks Jam and Rick,

Mike Vidas is an incredible potter and has a good overall attitude and maturity given his youth. He has beat our more seasoned (local) pro's like John Horsfall at times and has also lost to weaker players. If he shows up with his A game he can do some damage. He plays with a very plain looking Sneaky Pete with a predator shaft. Nice guy...Go Mike Go.

Are they down to the final 8 on the A side? RJ

Congratulations to Mike, I can't believe he beat Edwin. I guess Vancouver won this round LOL! Does Mike gamble? I'm sure Edwin wouldn't mind playing a few $1000 sets with him, ;) Tyler Edey is still on the A side playing Jose Parica in his next match.

Just posted an update to the brackets. Edey beat Parica bad. They are down to 4 on the winners side now.

Wow - thanks for the work with the brackets. I'd love to have tagged along with Tyler and cheered but I can make do with hoping Edwin can take Parica too ;).

--Mike <--- eagerly awaiting further news from the sunny south.

Ernesto must be playing GOOD. He's been beating everyone like 9-1, 9-3, 9-2, 9-4, etc.

I hope he snaps this thing off!!

I just saw that and even I was a little surprised he beat him that handily, Tyler lost his next match against Ernesto who seems unstoppable but at least he made it close 9-6. Hillbilly and JJ are quietly having a great tournament as well. Edwin is out but Vidas beat Duel and is having probably the best tournament of his life.

No "like" about it.
Ernesto has won by scores of 9-2, -1, -4, -1, -6, -6.
Mike has done a great job of posting the info on the brackets !!!
