How many basement players out there?

I play a lot at home by myself, but I also go to my friend's house and play and vice-versa. He's a good enough player to keep me working on my game and trying to stay a step ahead of him. We both used to play out more and were on the same team in a league about 12 years ago. Now, at 41 with kids...

    jimmy mataya

I love Jimmy Mataya!! A true character in our sport. I got to meet him once and he was very cool. I was going to watch Jason Kirkwood play in an IPT qualifier down in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and I heard Jimmy was going to be playing in it also, so I brought one of my pool magazines that had a nice...

What would a movie about pool look like to you?

I don't know why everyone thinks if a pool movie has anything about gambling in it, it's a bad thing!!!??? My pool movie would be about Johnston City and would have a few sub-plots about some of the main players in Johnston City to build the characters. The tourney in J.C. would actually be the...

    Billiard chairs

The nicest I've seen are the Brunswick chairs. I have two of them and like them alot. They have drawers under the seat, which is very handy for keeping your pool essentials in. I'll let you in on a little secret...If you are able to make it to a major WPBA event, the chairs they use for the...

Sportsmanship poll Redone: opponent is @ to shoot wrong ball -you sayin sumthin?

I don't think it is even an honesty or integrity issue. Know the rules...know what ball you're on. What's next?......Do I have to remind my opponent to chalk before he shoots? And trying to say that this makes pool look bad??? All sports are dog-eat-dog and no one is looking out for the other...

    6' 2" and my cue is 58".

Why do I hit really hard cut shot consistently, but miss the straight shot just as..

Chris, you should be hitting the cue ball with whatever it takes to get the position you need. I feel that when people miss these types of shots, it's mostly due to an issue in their stroke. Also, you could be putting unwanted sidespin on the cue which would contribute to problems with accuracy...

The story of how you found your cue...

A very good friend of mine used to live near Portland, Oregon, and was pretty heavy in the pool scene out there, hanging with the likes of Glenn Atwell back in the 90's. I guess he came across cuemaker Rich Benson's step-son one day, who was in college and in need of some cash. My friend bought...

    Kamui - new tips

I think I am going to try a kamui next. I have a moori on right now and it was good at first, but I notice it is glazing over and I am having problems with miscueing also. I was going to ask if anyone else had this problem with mooris but found your post. Thanx for the review.

    Technically I didn't get hustled........

I hear ya there. My good friend is a guy who sometimes got "paid" for pool lessons. I got to play with him for free though from the time I started playing. Lo and behold, he dragged me up to his level. Whenever you get to play with these kind of cats, do it, because it will definitely bring your...

    Help With My Game

Sure enough, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and that's the best way to look at it. When I feel like I can't make a ball, I chalk it up to being at a point where my game is growing and sure enough I come out on the other side feeling stronger.

    Help With My Game

I agree, you have to get to where you can win with your b-game. You just have to play through some of those bad days. Also, you haven't been playing that long and you'll go through slumps which will become fewer and farther between. Usually, you come out of the slump a stronger player.

    Glove Or Powder

Good one gunzby...I actually lol'ed. No Sean, I was talking about snow actually, even though it is quite out of season here in Michigan. My screen name 9bizzle comes from how I would imagine Snoop-Dog would say 9 ball, but I do own a dog that doo-doo's in the yard.

Do Pros Actually Use the Predator Z2 Shaft in Competition?

Do you mean John Schmidt? Mike Schmidt never used low deflection when jacking homeruns in the 70's and 80's for the Phillies.:)
