Playing a 4 handed ring game money on the 5 and 9. I made the 5 on the break and the 9 on my second shot. I loaded up the high right and stabbed the 3 in 100mph. Whitey came out hit the 9 and came down and bumped the 4 / 8 leaving my a simple run out.

You are spot on as to the solution to a easier path from the 2 to the 3. You also nailed the problems with going to end rail first. The thing is I don't do easy. Working on table length position.

I found it need to really work on my table speed in the thin cuts. I seem to have 3 speeds, none of which were good for this 4 ball. I go 1/2 table- full table and end near the rail-1 1/2 tables. None work.

This is designed to improve my pocketing and speed when pocketing the 3. It is a 1/4" off the rail and needs to be pocketed smoothly or it will rattle. To have to play the 4 to that 1 pocket adds purpose to the pocketing of the 3. I play more 1 pocket then anything and I set this up to play 2...

If I went three rails off the 2 I ended up too flat on the 3 to get on the right side of the 4. This table won't take firing the 3 in and drawing out 2 rails for the 4.( At least for me) This was set up to force me to really bear down on getting good position on the 3 to get on the 4. I wanted...

One caveat which made this hard is the 4 has to be shot in the corner furthest from the 5.
