Best food you've ever had at a pool hall?

The Pool Room in Duluth, GA has some of the best bar food around. Full menu and bar. Some people actually go there for the food. Wings, ribs, steaks it's all good and reasonably priced.

Why the heck does APA use 7' tables at all higher level tourns?

7' tables All of the major league tournaments, APA, TAP, BCA, are played on 7' tables. My guess would be ease of delivery and set up at the venue. Tough to ship and set up 9 footers in a short amount of time.

    Tight Tables

The length of the lane may be the same, but the conditions of that lane change from lane to lane, and day to day. Each house will have different oil patterns. This will affect the trajectory of the ball as it travels down the lane. Just like pool players have to adjust to different cushions...

Can a Gandy be made to play like a Gold Crown or Diamond?

Mine are Brunswick Super Speed. Not sure on the profile, however they are right on spec as far as nose height from table surface.

Can a Gandy be made to play like a Gold Crown or Diamond?

I have one that was rebuilt using Brunswick rubber. Had the rails extended giving me 4.5" pockets. Recovered with Simonis 860. It plays as well or better than any Gold Crown in the local pool rooms. A lot will depend on the mechanic rebuilding it. Mine is one of the best.

For all you die hard Brunswick fans!

Hi Mark, Speaking of Gandy, the one you rebuilt for me plays as good as any of the other brands mentioned. Keep up the good work. That GC5 at The Pool Room turned out pretty good too.

APA love it or hate it?

Try TAP Try the TAP format. APA style races, handicap levels in 8 ball, still 2 through 7, call pocket, open on the break. And best of all the handicap limit is 25. Those two extra points make a big difference in keeping a team together.

    The dumbest question ever

That shot will not go on an Olhausen with 5" pockets either.

    The dumbest question ever

Not sure who said it first, but someone once told me, that if you hit the center of the pocket they're all the same size.

How to gamble at the DCC

In some cases, a convenient lack of consistancy. My previous summary of skill levels between leagues was based on 8 ball.

How to gamble at the DCC

As a TAP 6 you should be able to play "most" APA 7's heads up. A TAP 6 in my part of the country is @ equal to a BCA 8. Watch out for the APA 5's.

Opinions on this Gandy Table Please!

I recently purchased a Big G and had it rebuilt with new rubber, extended rails 4.5 pockets with Simonis 860. It plays as good as any table in Atlanta. This is my second Big G both are excellent tables.
