    Lori Shampo

Photos of Lori Shampo Thanks for your kind words, Joey. Unfortunately, I have very few of Lori as she was more of an action player than a tournament player & most of my photos in my Facebook Wall of Fame are from the tournaments. The few I have are all from the mid '80s. Here's the first...

    Rest in peace, Grady.

Our pool family has lost a world class player, teacher, author, commentator, promoter, billiard room owner & irreplaceable personality. Tentative plans are being made for services to be held on Saturday in Lexington, SC. When I get further details, I will pass them on. My heart & thoughts are...

    Sad news about Grady Matthews.

Like so many of his fans & friends who have posted here so eloquently about this sad news, I've been sitting here for hours - wishing it weren't true. The memories of the times we've shared over the last 30+ years are rushing through my mind & the tears just won't stop. Grady is one of our...

Lil Joe's Kicking DVD - Why Reverse Order Sequence?

Transplant eloquently put into words exactly what I was going to say as I had asked Joe the same question when I spent an hour or so at the table with him at Derby City. As someone who played in WPBA tournaments since virtually its inception in the mid '70s, I thought I kicked fairly well - not...

Larry Price passed away this weekend.

It's sure sad to hear that the pool world lost another one of the good ones... I was told today that Larry's wife, Angie, passed away a short time ago also. This was Larry & Angie Price at the '86 Carolina's Cup at Mother's in Charlotte, NC. They're sharing a booth with Calvin Harcrow &...

    JAM's View

Hi JAM! You're right on with the general info on the tournament but whoever wrote the article on Wade Crane's .1000 either didn't know what he was looking at or realize the magnitude of what happened. I remember it like it was yesterday... The tournament was the biggest one of the year - the...

    Grady Mathews update...

I am pleased to report that "the rumors of Grady's impending demise have been greatly exaggerated!" Grady called me last night. He sounded weak but that is to be expected considering what he's going through. He's hanging tough & is not giving up - he will be starting the next round of chemo on...

He has decided to share his news :(

I was to saddened to learn this afternoon that my good friend, Grady Mathews, has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer & is in a hospice. Not only was Grady one of the greatest players of my generation, but he was also a tireless promoter of the game we all love. Whether it was reading one...

    Mastering the Jump Shot

LOL Like Jay said...even an old dog can learn new tricks! The main thing that helped me in MASTERING THE JUMP SHOT was a simple change in my bridge hand. I was never able to jump balls within a handspan of the cue ball - now I'm hopping over them with ease & consistency.
