    Rerack question

If the break ball is pocket in the wrong pocket or the shooter plays safe and pockets the ball are all 15 balls reracked tightly? Or do you simply place the 15th ball on the spot and take whatever gaps are there. I can not find a rule covering this. Is it a courtesy to allow the incoming...

    Skid

Thanks Thanks to all who replied and verified the use of low outside-english to reduce the skid. Like Fred says many of these skids occur when a stun shot or slow roll is needed. The hall I frequent does use a polish in their daily cleaning, but the polish is watered down quite a bit. I also...

    Skid

What can be done to reduce it? I’ve missed shots and/or position on the most simple shots due to %$#& skid. My regular opponent says that outside english reduces or eliminates skid. I don’t think so. I believe that skid is caused by residual chalk on the cueball coming between the contact points...

Is it a sport or a game?

My 2 cents IMO -sports require practice -sports require mental skills -sports require exceptional physical ability to excel (this a is HUGE sports requirement) -(most) sports require exceptional hand/eye coordination -games require practice -games require mental skills -games require...

Asking price for used Gold Crown III's

Gene, I live in Rochester NY, so that qualifies as east coast. Nine years ago I bought a 2 year old GCIII (with ball return) for $2500. That price included setup with Simonis 860, a set of Centenials and two bridges. This table was purchased from a pool hall that went out of business. I...

Which Tip do you like the most?

I've been using the Talisman Pro medium for about 7 years. Extremely durable. The last one didn't wear out but I installed a new one with a fiber pad. Not sure why I did. Just wanted to try something new. Paul Mon............Merry Christmas

    My X-Shaft warped, no warranty!

Bring it to the Super Billiards Expo in Philly. Bring it up to their booth when they are real crowded and start the conversation again. When potential customers start hearing their warranty policy you may get a different reaction. I for one was also considering their shaft. NOT NO MORE...

How old is your playing cue????

I've used my current cue about 5 years, a 314 shafted Blackheart. Prior to that I used a Meucci for about 5 years and before that an Adams for 25 years.

Best way to clean up a well used shaft.....

Maybe. But around here they are with the kitchen cleaning supplies in grocery stores, Walmart, etc.

Best way to clean up a well used shaft.....

Are you watching this cue maker clean the shaft? My guess is that they are using some type of abrasive. I know that on the one occasion that I had my shafts done by a cue maker I had to tell him (Dan Dishaw) NOT to us any abrasive on the shaft. He looked a little surprised and replied, “how...

What do you think the cuemaker is doing to clean the shaft?

Best way to clean up a well used shaft.....

I use the Magic Eraser too. But I disagree with using the green Scotbrite pads. They are abrasive. The white ones are less abrasive but still remove wood. Use leather after the cleaning to burnish. I place a piece of waxed paper (from my wifes kitchen) between the shaft and the leather...

    Wraps - Looks vs. Feel

Captain, I also prefer the feel of wood. But the key word in this sentence is prefer. I've owned and used linen/leather and just found that wood was more consistent in it's feel. On the few occasions that a wrapless cue gets to feeling grimey or sweaty all it takes is a quick wipe and a wash...

    Do Pro Players Cheat?

George actually called a double hit foul on himself in the case game. I was 8 feet away and all bystanders agreed that unless he called it it would not have been noticed.
