1.Which tip holds chalk the best?

2.Which tip gives you the best english?

3.Which tip is the most durable?

4. Which tip gives you the best feedback?

Any other factors to consider when you decide your favorite tip?

Thank you.

Richard

Sniper is #1 on all 4 of your questions...pretty far ahead of the rest. I'd have to give Kamui my #2.

I am not limiting my question to laminated tip.

I did try the sniper and it holds chalk very well.

I actually like a very thin triangle tip.

Of all the tips, I would think blue diamond and elk master hold chalk the best though.:) But of course they are not very good holding up against mushrooming.

Do you think it is because of the glue that some laminated tips are not holding chalk as well?

I mean, if you have many layers then you also have more glues in between the leather layers. More layers might help to keep the tip from mushrooming, but it would not hold chalk as well, so, it is kind of a trade off? Does that make sense?

A very hard, durometer-tested Triangle.

I've used every tip on the market, and my conclusion is if you like a hard, pingy tip, nothing is better than an extra-hard triangle. If you like a softer tip, the laminates will provide more consistency.

im using a sumo tip now and i really like it, i have been using it since october and it has not mushroomed once and i have only scuffed it once. it still holds chalk quite well, if you like a thin triangle and have not used a sumo tip i suggest trying one. ive used triangle tips and there just was not enough feel, i did like them thin but when they were full they felt too soft for me.

On my Schick: Schick, with a pad. (Billy makes his own tips.)

On my Lucasi: Triangle with a pad.

I've been using the Talisman Pro medium for about 7 years. Extremely durable. The last one didn't wear out but I installed a new one with a fiber pad. Not sure why I did. Just wanted to try something new.

I wouldnt be so bold to say the niper is number 1 and make it sound liek a fact.

It is all personal preference.

With that said. SNIPER is my favorite for everything you mentioned Richard, just my personal preference. :D

You developing a playing cue Richard? If not, you should :) If it is half as decent as your breaking cue it will be great!

The milk duds that Mike Johnson makes and installs on his Jensen cues. Hard as a rock, holds their shape and lasts a long time. They don't mushroom and never need to be reshaped or scuffed.

I have tried a number of tips, but I keep coming back to the Moori.
Currently, I am using a Moori Slow.
With the older version of Moori tips, I preferred the medium, however, IMHO, I think the Moori III tips are just a slight bit harder than the Moori II's.

The Elkmaster milk duds that I make and put on my cues :D

Hard, no reshaping needed, no mushrooming, great english, great feel.

This reminds me of a thread I started like last week:

Anyways, Flex, how do you make the "milk duds" tips. (If you can give it away, and it's not some secret) I would love to try. I've got some triangles I would be willing to throw in some milk if you explain the process. What is the benefit of a milk dud anyways?

Anyone try to "milk" a sniper?

Ask and you shall receive!

Here's a thread dedicated to your question:

It has explanations on how to make them, and lists some of their benefits too.

I agree with buddha... triangle are pretty pingy- it feels great IMO.
I have have a 314^2 with a sniper tip on order. I'll see how it compares to my triangles

Is it still a soft tip, or is it more of a medium tip after you process it?
Thank you for the link.
Happy holidays,
