Draw for show, follow for the dough?

Sure. The choice is following into the rail and spinning to control how you come off, versus drawing and not hitting the rail. This whole discussion, in my mind, is of personal deficiencies, not one of fundamental truths. I would be more free with using forward roll if "less spin is mo'...

what determines the cue ball speed?

I'll add that off center hits store some of the applied energy in angular momentum, reducing ball "speed" off the cue tip.

    I have a tip question.

For much of the past year, i had been thinking to try something other Kamui soft. But as much as i pound on it, it refuses to die. It holds its shape well and doesn't need scuffing. I think I've pounded it to at least a medium by now. I do shape it every two to three weeks with a dime radius...

    Network error while using tapatalk???

Heh. Too late for me. I just uninstalled the thing to get back on. Google hits on AZB redirect to the app with no recourse or opt out. That's bordering on virus behavior, those greedy traffic hounds. It's tolerable while they offer the better alternative, but suicide when it goes wrong. Those...

    Epiphany

My old closed bridge wasn't awful, just not rigid as it is now. With the butt removed and holding just the shaft, there is very little resistance to swiveling and rocking when moving the joint end around. I could aim with all possible care but still screw up on the actual hit. The difference now...

    Epiphany

I played for 40+ years with a loose, sloppy bridge, chasing my stroke from night to night, always wondering when i would loose my tenuous grasp and for how long this time. It maybe didn't help that i played with a broomstick-like 14mm shaft until a few months ago. I bought a Lucasi with a pro...

Probably a dumb question. But still would like an answer... lol

Wondering if it makes sense to leave it on under the table continuously, keeping it some sane temperature for indoor furniture. The ton of cold soaked slate heat mass doesn't seem like it will respond meaningfully in even a full day session. My garage is insulated but not heated, Chgo suburb...

Condensation from products of combustion. (CO2, H2O.) Electric heat doesn't share this problem.

Call the hit: Me vs Ghost

Watch it twice, each time with the expectation in mind. It's clearly a bad hit. With that in mind as you watch, the 9 moves and only then does the cue move as you'd expect and hit the 3. PS: ... And then watch it a few more times and vacillate. I can't call it even after watching 10 more times.

    CopYing your favorite player'S STYLE

I have a gift for mimicry. It served me well in athletics as a youngster, and later in life, golf, tennis, and even on the dance floor. Gareth Potts has done wonders for my stroke, not to mention my hit percentage. I don't go the full route with the shooting leg thing, but the whole full body...

I could've saved you a lot of typing. Everyone knows sewer pipe is the right size and shape for leg pulling. I wonder, though, if the boiling point is above or still below the liquid wax flash point. Any chance that you smoke?

Why do some top players blatantly pattern rack (cheat) when on a live streamed table?

That's just it, isn't it? Recognizing that the rack can be manipulated effectively leads us to not play rack your own. I have only one demand of my opponent: "Play Pool. Shoot shit later." Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

    Bad hit?

Good discussion. Thanks. It threw me that the cue ball followed pretty close to the stripe's tangent line if it had been sitting alone. However, the stripe was to the right of the suspected obstacle ball. This is where I went wrong and concluded wrongly. If there had been contact with an...

    Bad hit?

https://youtu.be/eKzsD5tNdC8 At 11:10, Gareth Potts seems to hit his 11 ball off his opponents 2 ball. The cue takes off on the 11's tangent, following closely behind and near co-speed with the 2. This seems to me to unquestionably a bad hit, yet the ref and Albin both didn't call it. Can...
