found a new (to me) pool game love

Hello and congrats on the new love. I just started playing myself recently so any advice I have is pretty basic. Do you use any English/spin? Have you tried moving the cue ball closer? What has helped me has been experimenting with angle, distance and spin of the cue ball.

to all you apa bashers...and all league haters also

LOL! How much heart does it take to bet money on a favorite or a sure thing? Talks about playing real pool, but barks all day at league players. These posts reek of personal insecurities.

to all you apa bashers...and all league haters also

1981...the APA started before The Color of Money movie and has outlasted every pro tour and organized pro event. It's older than many posters on here. 250,000 members...does a pro tour even draw this many spectators, let alone this many participants? These numbers come from one amateur...

to all you apa bashers...and all league haters also

You're kidding here, right? Growth of the game = growth in the business. You seem to think baseball and the like only exist because their are pro leagues. Those events fill stadiums of hundreds of thousands and TV viewers in the millions. Why? Let's just stick with your MLB example. Kids...

    Rack of rotation

Didn't look like much of a challenge for ya! ;) Nice shots on the 2 and 8.

to all you apa bashers...and all league haters also

I am still trying to figure out how the diminishing pro tours have killed pool for everyone else? I mean, didn't most of the old school players stay away from tournaments anyway? I thought they were all too busy busting some poor unsuspecting sucker? And how is helping a handful of pros make...

to all you apa bashers...and all league haters also

Not all pool leagues use handicaps. And what about the high skilled player? How do they improve when they're just dishing out lumps? Answer: Handicaps. This old structure you speak of, it never taught anyone anything. Maybe a select few and you learned only enough not to be a threat to...

Is Pool Appropriately Priced to Flourish?

WARNING! Controversial Statement Below. Read At Your Own Risk. If you know pool/billiard's history, you'd know the game is rooted and was once exclusive to royalty and the extremely wealthy. Like it's outdoor neighbor, golf, pool and billiards are first world games. They require high cost...

    PPVs

Same as pool in general, a new business model is absolutely necessary for the sustainability of streamers, otherwise they too will perish along with the game itself. Promotion is crucial, and at this point it's all our responsibility to give this back to the game, that give us so much pleasure...

    Coos Bay Oregon-pool rooms?

I checked out The Silver Dollar over the weekend. Interesting little bar there. They do have 4 Diamond bar tables, with mostly Amarath professional/premium balls, and red dot cue ball. One table I played on did have a mismatched ball set but everything played fine. Not wanting to make a...

Judging the speed of the table…

It helps to have a baseline. So knowing what your typical stroke or speed is like normally is the key to determining the different speed on varying tables. Once you know your baseline or typical stroke speed, then gauging table speed is fairly simple. How does one gauge fast or slow? How...

Our Streamers' Health - Is There Reason For Concern?

Question for folks that stream: Have you considered creating a network of streamers and maybe passionate volunteers to help with setup and running streams across the country? Is there enough interest in your experience? I have no idea, but seems like there are several or a handful of people...
