Solutions for small-scale local one pocket tournaments

I don't think one hole players like one hole tournaments, period. We had a 5k added one hole event in Philadelphia 2 years ago. Open, I think $100 entry range. It was well advertised, well run, in the biggest room in town, known for gambling one hole players. This town has one hole players...

    Sharing my old Brunswick table

In all the years we've been on AZB, I don't recall any member ever buying an antique like this, and writing about it. The people here are the biggest pool phanatics in the world. You'd figure one of us would have the combo of "love pool, love antiques, has money to burn". But I don't think its...

Solutions for small-scale local one pocket tournaments

Race to 2, single elimination. Try that and see how it goes. Double elimination takes forever in 9 ball, don't even attempt it in one pocket. One pocket tournaments rarely draw a lot of players. I doubt you'd get 16 at a local small event. Are you in Europe?

Pro Pocket Size TOO Small for 9 Ball

Pockets should go back to 5". There was ZERO wrong with them. Look at any Accu-Stats matches from the 1980s to 2000's on Gold Crowns and that's what they had. Those matches were more exciting than today's. 4.5" is good for the 1 hole players that want to dink the balls around. All the other...

    Help with ferrule material

I think they are generically called "fiber ferrules". If you go to Chris Hightower's site (cuemanbilliards) he sells them. (Or used to 15 years ago last time I checked. He will know for sure what they are.

IDK how universal that is or just "most don't have diamonds"? GC1 5x10 snooker tables have one sight per rail. But I've also seen two of them (pictures here on AZB years ago) that had all the sights.

It was horrible. On couches that were daily used, usually a heavy knitted throw blanket would be over the clear plastic. In the formal room that no one used, the clear plastic would be on full display.

From what we can see in the pictures, it looks complete, and not in bad shape. What's there to restore? Maybe just clean the parts, set it up and play it?

Are you Greek or Italian by chance? They ALL had their furniture covered in clear plastic in the 60's thru 80's, hahaha.

He’s in Canada. They had different models there. Even a 6x12 GC snooker table that was never in the USA. From what I recall reading Brunswick had a Canadian factory for the Canadian market. Idk if that factory was as early as this table though. Btw why do we think it’s a Brunswick?

    Friendly Challenge

I made a lot of money on that!!!!! Even good players had a hard time. The bigger the pocket and a deeper the shelf, the easier the money! Old Gandy tables were perfect for the cash. I never tried it on a diamond. I haven’t even thought about it in 25 years.

    Friendly Challenge

There are a few videos floating around of pros attempting this a couple years ago. I'd probably try this for the first shot, trying to make 3 in one shot, and variations of it for subsequent shots:

    WNT, WPA and 2026

I am speaking as "educated guessing" but I doubt WPA had anything to do with the popularity of pool in Vietnam. I believe pool is a gambling game there, along with Carom Billiards, and about every single boy and teen play it and gamble at it. Here in the States, there are TONS of carom rooms...

    WNT, WPA and 2026

I have only read a few posts in this thread... I too think the pros and the fans have settled down quite a bit from the WPA vs WNT drama a couple of years ago. There were distinct "sides" then. Now, most of the players went back to being "free agents", and going whatever they please that...

    9ball break

Its still worthwhile to practice with the magic rack, because you can see what moving the cb left or right a bit, or hitting harder or softer does, etc. It's so repeatable that you can actually learn that stuff. If you tried to learn that with the triangle rack, you wouldn't know if it was a...

    Cue maker team tournaments

Unless it was singles, it would have to be Predator vs the Rest in team format. They have enough top players to make 10 teams.

Siming Chen vs. Zhao Yanhao (JOY Heyball Grand Masters) *LIVE*

Is Siming head and shoulders above the other female C8 ball players as she was in American pool? I have not followed her since she left American pool.

    WNT, WPA and 2026

Also for the 2 years the 9 ball WC was not held in 2008 and 2009, the 10 ball was. I believe a bunch of us thought at the time that 10 ball would take over? That was also when the economy was in the toilet, and money was dried up worldwide for anything and everything, sport and normal day to...
