    1970 9 ball rules

All these years I thought 8 ball had more variations in rules than any other game. (Especially when considering bar banger “rules”). Now, after reading this thread, I think it’s 9 ball. Haha.

    Which balls to get?

If price is no object, the Aramith Tournament set with Duramith material. If price is an object, the Dynasphere set that has the regular colors. I forgot its name, its about $150.

    1970 9 ball rules

Clarifications, for the push out on the "spotted balls version".... 1) If someone pocket scratches and the ball spots and its BIH behind the line.... can the incoming player still call a push-out? 2) If someone makes an unintentional "bad hit" by not hitting the lowest ball and pockets a ball...

    1970 9 ball rules

Or a private gambling match. (one hole or banks is the only modern game it comes up). Before each one hole match I'm in, I always ask if center or edge of the ball must be past the line. Everyone in 30 years of gambling one hole always has said edge. Not a single center.

    1970 9 ball rules

IMO, both ways are the same ease to determine. You just stand at the side rail with your eye near the diamond and close one eye and look straight across. The center of the ball is easy to find. I've never in 30 years of play seen a player put their cue or a string across the diamonds. Only the...

    This Keeps Happening

The outsville rack is the worst one. Hard to get a tight rack. However, one of the balls staying near the 9 is very common with a soft break and a template rack. Some players play it on purpose, as it leads to short games with an early 9 combo. That's the Corey comment earlier in the thread...

    1970 9 ball rules

To this day, I've never been to a local event that did NOT go by the edge of the ball. Was it really never in any rulebook?

    1970 9 ball rules

@Twocylndr off topic, but does that old rule book go by the center of the ball or edge of the ball for determining in/out of the kitchen? (could be for any game in it...)

My Interview with Bill Curran Optical

Nice interview! I was the first customer Bill was talking about. It must have been 20 years ago. Bill doesn't upcharge for his pool glasses. He even tried to get them cheaper than his regular glasses, once he learned how cheap us pool players are, hahaha. I've been buying glasses from him since...

My guess is Johan called him on an actual voice phone, and told him he wants him on the team, and to get his behind to every event so he can automatically qualify.

Thanks. Yeah, that's why I don't want to make the one in the opening post again. I was sweating it failing the entire time. Not worth the stress.

Johan back at 2026 Mosconi Cup Healm

We've said the same thing for 20 years. There are no juniors coming up that are world class in the USA. Nothing has changed that. Shane was the last American and he burst onto the international scene in 2007. From 2007 until today in 2026, no American junior has come close to Shane as they...
