Which balls to get?

I have a Diamond table that I bought at the Super Billiards Expo many years ago and it came with a set of the Cyclop balls which were ok except now I notice a crack in the 1 ball along with a small chip. I can't seem to find replacement Cyclop balls anywhere so maybe I'm due for a new set. Thoughts on where I might be able to find a replacement Cyclop 1 ball or thoughts on what would be a good set of traditional color balls (Aramith or Predator maybe)? Thanks.

Shop for Centennials….be patient and search eBay for the next 10 days……I turned another Azer onto a great deal for
a brand new set he made an offer on and the seller accepted. Good things can happen if you give it a chance. You’ll
never be disappointed with a set of Centennials that for decades is the brand all other cos. compare themselves with.

Doesn't Aramith offer a Cheaper set for the cost conscious, broke ass player??
Continentals or some such??
They're Phenolic resin as well and cost less than 75 bucks.

Thanks again :)

There was a cute movie, despite starring Kevin Spacey, named Pay It Forward.

I think we all would profit if more of us embraced that theme and tried helping
others because it just feels good to help someone. And you’ll know why if and
when that happens to you and it was due to a stranger whom didn’t know you.

It will inspire you to do for others what was done for you. This doesn’t require a
lot of time, effort or money to be considerate and thoughtful of others. It’s easy.

Acros II..The best set hands down. Bright colors that pop, 99% phenolic resin, great design with bullseye markings on one side and the Predator Logo on the other and made by the best in the business Aramith. Used in professional tournaments the most I would say but the Aramith Blacks are used alot too. The only bad thing with the Blacks are with a quick glance in a dark pool hall you might miss over looking one of your balls in a runout..

I have like a dozen sets of balls. Centenial. Predator Arcos. A bunch of Aramith (including Tournament Pro, Black and the 100 year anniversary set). A few Dynasphere (including Platinum, Tungsten and Heyball. A few Cyclop sets (including the original "good set" and the Hyperions). I cycle between them all about two weeks per set (I play a couple hours a day). In the last few years, my vote would be for any Dynasphere set. At my house, under my conditions, they are the balls that stay clean longest and play most consistent for the ~2-week stint. The Tungsten set is very, very good for the money. They did some rebranding and change some names, and I think they have a value line now as well. I haven't used the value set, so I have not specific feedback there.

The Arcos and Aramiths have a similar tendency to get a little "dirty" and start to grip the cue ball more after a week or so of play. You can throw the ball more, and impact more english to turn them when banking (actually helpful for banks/one-pocket - so maybe that is a benefit). If you play 8-ball, the Aramith black set is weird as there are a lot of stripes that look like the 8-ball from certain perspectives. Oh, and then there's the purple 5 [I got the seprate orange 5/13 set and they look like a normal set now!]. The Heyball set (well, if you could get one) is not really good for 9-ball as they are numbered 1-7 on both groups. I still like my cyclop sets and the colors, but after many, many years, some seem to be getting smaller or perhaps not as round as they don't like to magic rack perfectly anymore. :(

All that said, any of the premium balls are going to be fine for most situations.

I see a couple of different packaging schemes for Centennials. Is there a difference in the balls themselves or any changes that someone should be aware of, or is it simply the packaging itself that has evolved over a period of time?

For example...

My personal opinion, Brunswick Centennials...

Excellent observation and I do no know the answer but obviously there’s always a worry about counterfeit pool balls.
I know how I would handle it but what I do is not intended as a roadmap for others to use. If using eBay which I use all
the time, always use PayPal as a purchase of goods. You’ll enjoy buyer protection that has never disappointed me.

If price is no object, the Aramith Tournament set with Duramith material.

If price is an object, the Dynasphere set that has the regular colors. I forgot its name, its about $150.

Do you have a budget ceiling? How much are you looking/willing to spend.

I really like my Brunswick Centennials. Great classic look.

I do want to purchase a set of the new Dynaspheres (Challenger 572) when they become available.
