    Pace of Play

I stopped going to my local friday night for that reason. It would end at 3am WITH a chop. I'd rather just go hang out and shoot the shit and play a few cheap action sets. Yeah, the players that go 2 and out get their fun in. But anyone advancing is just frustrated. We often have the hot seat...

    Pace of Play

Even if you start at 8pm on the nose with the first break, there are simply too many players compared to tables on a weekly type event. It's the DCC problem at the local room. I'd even argue most local TD's do a better job than the DCC, because a match is called the second a table is available...

    Pace of Play

Big national events across several days with a pre-populated player's list can schedule matches in advance every 2 hours. Local weeknight events that are walk-ins operate on a different model. The second a match finishes, the next one is scheduled.

Can we talk about Dale Perry cues?

    I don't believe the 950 and 1200 for a second!

Is a pool tournament not gambling?

I read the whole article. That new rule where you can only deduct 90% of your gambling losses (against your winnings) does sound really dumb. It made a good point that poker winnings are thin margins, and that 10% swing will completely change many player's taxes. It doesn't jive with other tax...

World Top 200 Players by Fargo Rating (April2026)

The best Shane played was around 2007-2012. He was dominating everything and everyone! Both in tournaments and action matches. The main game was 10 ball, and he had the break down better than anyone else alive. Now the game is back to 9 ball, and his break advantage is not as large. Plus he was...

World Top 200 Players by Fargo Rating (April2026)

One caveat, that older list was not the entire fargroate list (as is the new list from today). It was only the players entered in the 2015 US Open who were established.

World Top 200 Players by Fargo Rating (April2026)

Yes, for the younger players for sure. The ones who were 40 then, and 50 now, and have a much higher rating now.....doesn't pass the sniff test.

World Top 200 Players by Fargo Rating (April2026)

Nothing surprised me. There has been enough time now for the superiority of the Filipino's who don't travel much to get on the biggest lists. The players are not any better because they are in the higher 800's now. Thats FargoRate creep. See this list from 2015 of many of the same names...

    Pace of Play

Local tournaments should ALL be single elimination, luck counts, 9 ball. That's a fast game, and fast format. It also leaves open tables much earlier for regular paying customers. It also promotes action as eliminated player have time and tables to match up. 8 ball should be banned. Takes...

Seeing the contact point on the object ball.

Well besides that, it only lines up with the ghost ball, which is all imaginary and hard for a beginner (or a good player) to "see the center of in order to sent the center of the CB there"

Seeing the contact point on the object ball.

I don't understand how anyone can aim at the geometric contact point. It's not reality. The CB squirts and swerves and throws the OB.

    Rempe vs Fusco OnePocket Video

I had this match years ago on DVD. (since gave ALL my pool DVD's away). It was the best one hole match IMO for learning. Bentivegna's commentary on Fusco's strategy was top notch. Any chance it can be put on youtube, or available digitally? Maybe the Accu-Stats treasures series? @azhousepro Thanks!

Nick Varner is a Fargorate 777

@mikepage hey wait a minute! I just read thru this old thread, and my post #78 from 2024 showed he had 744 games, yet today in 2026 he has 706, which is what he had on post #1. What gives?

Nick Varner is a Fargorate 777

6.5 year bump! Nick is now a 772 (down from 777), still with 706 games. He hasn't played a single fargorate game in 7 years. His rating must be super fragile now, and any new play will be highly weighted.

    Predator launched a new site

For example, your iPhone is made by Apple, right? Yes, it is. They design it. They prototype it. The refine it. Over years. They then contract with Foxconn to build it. Foxconn is the contract manufacturer. But everyone says it's made by Apple.

    Predator launched a new site

Yes I understand all that. But they are an OEM model, not ODM. They designed their whole line. Then they had manufacture's make it. It's like that in lots of industries. They are not a "marketing company" that goes to manufacture XYZ and says "bring me something that my customers will buy in 3...

    Predator launched a new site

They are a big company making thousands of cues and in fact did change the pool world. Can't do that in a basement. Predator started with 2 guys like other cuemakers, but they decided from the beginning to go BIG, and they did.
