The pad allows you the ability not to have to face the ferrule every time you change a tip.
Over years if you face the ferrule each time the ferrule gets shorter.
Before you get too close to the ferrule, you just glue on another then do the tip.
If you are going to be spinning a finish or adhesion coat do not buy a wood lathe unless it has a variable speed motor.
Most wood lathes Rpm goes too fast on the lowest speed and it will cause the finish to want to get funny from the centripetal force.
Feeds and speed is the key.
Hi,
Everyone has an opinion but physics and geometry rules from an objective point of view.
The thing is not everyone likes the same attributes of a butt configuration, feel, sound, weight and balance point.
So it is subjective to a players preference.

Jeremy is running the show over there at OB for Mark. Jeremy is a very smart guy with tons of experience.
Any past problems at OB are just that a thing of the past.
I spent a hour talking to him at Griff's and I was super impressed with his mindset and experience.

Here is what i have learned about coring. If you want to start coring here are some points to focus on.
To me coring is very cheap insurance. The number one mission is to build a cue that is and stays straight when observed spinning between centers. The extra labor and effort to build a...
They are Kamui Med but I alway install a thicker clear pad I get from Barringer. I like that look!

There are many things than can cause a buzz;
Loose ferrule
Loose joint collar or butt cap
Loose inlay
Anulus gap area in a cored section
A Joint buzz
Loose weight bolt
A wood crack
Everyone of these except the crack Can be completely avoided by the cuemaker during construction.
I talk to Lee Everyday. He is in the leather gun holster biz and doing very well.
He is putting a cue shop together now and I have seen his inlay work. He will be making high end cues very soon.
I really miss Brianna because he designed a built a lot of great items that cuemakers could not...
