    Are superspeed cushions inherently slower

I know what a spanner wrench is, just never seen on with a torque reading capability. By the way, you really from Tennessee? My family on my dad's side goes back several generations there, I was born in Loudon County.

    Are superspeed cushions inherently slower

Thanks for the information. I had never seen a torque specification. All I have to do now is figure out how to adapt my torque wrench to the weird ass two prong wrench used on these tables. Probably can find a socket adapter.

    Are superspeed cushions inherently slower

You are right, I was counting differently. Counting your way I get 3 1/2. Not so bad I guess for a table over 100 years old. Thanks for all the help and sorry for the confusion,

    Are superspeed cushions inherently slower

Almost, i am about 1/4 table short.

    Are superspeed cushions inherently slower

Thanks for the replies. I went back to try again hitting the ball as hard as I could accurately and got 2.5 lengths. This on a 9 foot table. The bolts on the rails are as tight as I can make them. Just as a test I loosened one set of bolts and you can really hear the difference when the ball hits.

    Are superspeed cushions inherently slower

The subrails are 1 1/8 by 1 1 5/8 tall. The nose height is 1 13/32 and the rail bolts are very tight. The cloth is the Gorina 2000 tournament

    Are superspeed cushions inherently slower

I have an old T rail table that has really seen some abuse over the years. I put super speed cushions on it to try an improve play. I only get one and a half table lengths when shooting the length of the table. I decided to bite the bullet and totally rebuild the rails out of solid oak. It was a...

Affect of damaged subrails on play

Thanks for all of the replies. The nose height is 1 3/8 inches but the question of cushion angle is a good one since the issue does seem to be on all rails. Rexus had a good idea of posting this question in the mechanics section. Think I will give that a try.

Affect of damaged subrails on play

Given that this table is 100 plus years old and abused in the USO, I tend to agree.

Affect of damaged subrails on play

Thanks I will post pictures if I move foreward, I am about an hour from San Jose so I appreciate your offer.

Affect of damaged subrails on play

The rails are tight and I have check the cushion height multiple times and they are right on spec. The balls don't jump so I think they are reasonably on. If I decide to follow through on the change out I will post before and after pics. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Affect of damaged subrails on play

I am a pretty good woodworker, I have a complete shop and have made many musical instruments as well as furniture so I am not intimidated by the challenge. The cushions are Brunswick superspeeds that I put on so I think they are pretty decent.

Affect of damaged subrails on play

The rails are tight, I doubled checked them. There are some cracks in the area the cushions are glued to. That's my reason for thinking this might be affecting the cushions. Unfortunately there are no mechanics in my area so I have to do everything myself.

Affect of damaged subrails on play

I tried searching but could not find a post regarding this issue. I have a table overy 100 years old that came from the USO in San Jose, ca. The rails were damaged over the years and the repairs were done very poorly. In some places the featherboards have to be tacked to stay because the slot is...

    Jungblut tables mfg dates

Thanks Bob, I contacted them but have not heard back. The table pictured in your post is a dead ringer of mine, just in better shape.

    Jungblut tables mfg dates

I have a table which has been positively identified as a Jungblut table and I was wondering if anyone knew when this company quit making pool tables? The last date on the patent label is 1917 and according to what I have been able to find out his original factory was destroyed in the 1906 quake...

    Simmonis Vs. Gorina Cloth

I currently have Gorina 2000 on my table but I have had Simonis in the past. The 2000 plays like the simonis 760. My friend has simonis 860 on his table which is slower than mine so it is fun when we play on each other table. Forces us to adjust to the difference. I think they are both fine...

    Simonis v gorina cloth

The granito 2000 is faster than the basalt probably closer to the simonis 760. I have the 2000 on my table and my friend has Simonis 860 on his table and we both agree that my table plays about 15-20% faster.
