    2014 Spokane Open final match.

Thanks for sharing that one. I had never heard of this Brady guy, but I'll bet I remember him from now on. Great match, great level of play. I imagine both players shot over .900 there. Nice to see Rafael lose for once. Every time he comes to Oklahoma, he beats everybody. :)

Dropped two skill levels in less than 3 months

I've found that my pool skills are directly related to how happy I am with my non-pool life. If I find myself playing like crap, it's time for some painful introspection and fixing some issues away from the pool table. That's me, anyway; it might also apply to you.

I miss playing pool for money

Sounds like the type of player that would shoot the bank that sells out the game if they miss, and doesn't get position if they make it. Your correction is completely appropriate, I was just trying to give the benefit of the doubt when it probably wasn't deserved.

I miss playing pool for money

If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass when he hopped. Good set, good shooting, but if it's money you're after, there are better places to get it than on the pool table. (at least in the long run) Pool players are supposed to be better at risk/reward analysis than this.

Welcome, Fatboy. You last visited: 01-04-2014 at 08:08 PM

I'm still waiting with bait on breath for Fatboy to unveil his "next big thing" for pool. He's been hinting at doing something to save pool for roughly eight years now, nothing so far. This bugs me because a viable pro tour actually could be organized by one wealthy benefactor. I'm not trying...

Chapter 5, Not Giving up on the Road

Haha, I've played that game before, and won. Quality really determines whether that's a big bet or not. ;)

So, why haven't nos 2-8 gotten together and taken him out? He's gotta be stopped, or everyone else will starve.

how are ya'll doing in league ?

I got pretty fortunate in my BCAPL 8 ball league out of OKC this session. I found out today that I got 1st place out of 80 something players; our team took 1st also for the second session in a row, only one loss out of both sessions. Next session starts Sunday, and I haven't hit a ball in...

Could this man be the Mosconi Messiah

You seriously should watch some vids where Mark does commentary. The Hong Kong Challenge (Efren vs Earl race to 120) was some of the finest commentary I've ever heard. The man understands the nuances and intricacies of the game and its players better than any living human. He's a little short...

Anyone else want to see the mosconi cup move to 10-ball?

If you go back just a couple more years, Troy Frank won one of the DCC 9 ball events in '00 or '01. He beat Efren in the finals by shitting in a 9 ball on the hill. Final score 7-4. If he had to spot that ball, it would have been 6-5 with Efren of 2000 breaking...nobody has to like that...

What I've learned Since Joining AZ

I've never thought Steve Davis was hilarious before, thanks for posting that. "That's fantastic, I'm very happy with that. Obviously, though, I'm a top professional, that's the way it goes." :D

On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

I noticed that also. I've been enjoying this thread since it started, and now all I can think is that I really hope Gene's seizures continue to happen only at convenient times. If one were to happen while he's behind the wheel of a car... Well, that would be a shitty way to end a great "On the...

    AZ Member AtLarge

AtLarge aka "numbers guy" is doing his part to make sure that my kids and yours know exactly what's happening in pool at this time. MF'er is recording history that would have been forgotten. In 20 years, when someone is trying to find proof of how good SVB used to play, AtLarge's posts will...

Proposed TAR - TOI VS NO AIMING SYSTEM

Haha, it's funny to see such an ardent nine ball supporter quote Mosconi. :grin-square: Let's face it, pro pool doesn't have a lot going for it right now. If pool is to become big, I think it will have to be via eight ball. We have however many millions of league players as a potential market...

Proposed TAR - TOI VS NO AIMING SYSTEM

That's why Chris Bartrum has been talking about never playing safe in 8 ball. Great players today are more aware of how good other players are, and you can't always afford to let a good player back to the table... Even if you hook them, they don't have to sell out from there, so you are often...

What person has had the most positive influence on pool?

Of course, now I feel bad for everyone I've left out. Bob Jewett, Dr Dave, Stan Shuffet, Hal Houle, and at least a dozen others all deserve recognition for the knowledge they've shared here. I don't love this site as much I used to, but we still have a few posters that really make it worthwhile...
