The adhesives are what I would be most concerned about. And there are more than just the tip glue. As far as the carbon fiber I am not sure but I would lay odds that it will be happier that wood.

I am a big fan of Gerson, but after watching that match against David Alcaide I noticed that Gerson seemed nervy. While David seemed relaxed and looked like he was enjoying himself. I have not seen the Spaniard smiling during a match in a long time.

Maybe try and play shape? Sounds like that might be the only thing that is not like the previous shots. Pick an easy spot to get to after potting the eight and shoot with that spot in mind for the cue ball.
