Many thanks and 'Nuff respect to Sho 'Nuff and AZB'er Flex!

When I saw Brandon, first thing I told him was that VI Professor fellow could give him the 7.... VI P is a great fellow! And quite a conversationalist, to boot!

    New jump rule??

Not a problem, Ben, glad to see you are very reasonable too. As for the fellow, actually fellows, I'm referring to, well, one of my best pool playing friends would love to go on the road, but well, he's married with children, has a regular job, and that's a no-go. There are some...

    New jump rule??

Not an insult, at all. I'm sorry you took offense. Certainly wasn't my intention to insult you. However............. Your safety game can obviously use a bit of work if a rank beginner can easily jump and make contact with the correct ball. Regardless of the level of your game, which you state...

    New jump rule??

Sounds to me you need to sharpen up your safety skills.

Wearing a suit while playing pool...

Last night I attended a talk in a very upscale place in Chicago, and lo an behold they had a 9 footer in there, with Super Aramith balls, but awful playing but decent looking graphite cues, with good tips. I had on a sharp gray pin striped suit, white French cuffed shirt and tie, and uh-oh...

Am I over reacting or is this owner actually an $#!?

It also helps if you are able to start sounding like whatever the locals sound like. Fitting in no matter where you are is always good. Flex P.S. Developing an ear for vocal imitation of others doesn't hurt either.

Am I over reacting or is this owner actually an $#!?

I'm glad you are opposed to rudeness too. New York is fine; it's some of its inhabitants and their arrogant attitudes I have a really big problem with. Perhaps I've just had to deal with more than my fair share of jerks over the 10 years I lived there. On the other hand, many friends had...

Am I over reacting or is this owner actually an $#!?

Arthur is to be commended for stepping up. There was no "New York attitude" in his post at all, for which this fellow is most pleased. If he keeps what Jay Helfert wrote about pool being a "people business" and treats his customers with respect and Southern Hospitality, they'll become...

Am I over reacting or is this owner actually an $#!?

I lived in the Mount Kisco area. Since you're asking about the attitude thing, please indulge me if I mention a few incidents. Two happened at a camera store (not naming anyone in particular here, or the store) where I was a very regular customer, one who not only bought film in prodigious...

How Much is "1 Tip" of Spin?

Nice! I know from experience when I want to really spin the rock just how far out I can go without fear. Your cueball makes it easier to understand. Flex

Am I over reacting or is this owner actually an $#!?

I think he opened the room to make money, which is fine, room owners need to make a profit, hopefully a good one! However, treating customers the way he did won't exactly give them the warm 'n fuzzies, or have them bringing in their friends for a long session of pool. As for "trump"ing...

Am I over reacting or is this owner actually an $#!?

As Jay Helfert said, word of mouth... Just keep that "word of mouth" in mind. From what I've read so far, the original poster's experience seems to be a reflection of other problems there, to which Pooltchr has alluded. Yeppers, I can just feel that lovin' New Yorker attitude foaming at the...

Am I over reacting or is this owner actually an $#!?

Can't recall as being a jerk is ever called for. Mr. Rosen needs to take some Dale Carnegie lessons in how to influence people. Or rather, he just needs a few lessons in good manners, as it doesn't seem he got them from his mother. Flex

Am I over reacting or is this owner actually an $#!?

Couldn't agree more. That Rosen fellow sounds like he's from New York, the rough part of New York that is. Lots of great folks in New York (I lived there for 10 years) but some of those characters have one great big chip on their shoulder. Perhaps Mr. Rosen isn't from New York; he has a bad NY...

How Much is "1 Tip" of Spin?

I'd like to know when I go out to the extreme edge of where I can stroke the cue ball with force without worrying about a miscue just what that is... It's way the heck out there, or extreme, I suppose. And yes, there definitely are some pretty cool shots that a cue ball juiced with that...

    New jump rule??

Thanks for your comments, CreeDo. It's true that jumps are seldom employed in 14.1 and one pocket, but they do come up from time to time, and I've seen others attempt them. Jumps do not unalterably destroy the game, and most of the older players I know with whom jumping has been discussed (and...

    Best break cue

It would also be great if they had taken a standard Dufferin or Valley house cue with a rock hard tip and used it in those comparisons. Flex P.S. A White Diamond tip on the front of a really stiff shaft in with a full splice butt weighing about 19 ounces works fine for me. Not pricey either.
