We actually haven't used phenolic on our jump cues in over a year. We use the G10 tip. Works great for a jump cue if you are looking at switching your tip out.

I use a pigma micron pen 01 before the final spray. Also, make sure to not use a heavy grit sandpaper that will make deep scratches in the finish. The ink will bleed into them.

You shouldn't have any problems breaking with that shaft. If you do...let us know, it has a lifetime warranty on it. And as we always say here, If you can't break with it, don't shoot with it. :)

Pretty sure it is not Schmelke. It has a metric pin, thinking from somewhere in Taiwan. Guy, it has a pretty bad warp to it....but if you are interested in buying it let me know.
