Anyone here core a cue blank as good as John Davis did ?

John would probably tell you that theirs plenty of competent folks to core the blank. He was pretty much always experimenting and never really settled on a coring process. He mostly cored all of his late model playing cues. (non blanks). I can tell you from experience that you want to be...

    DigiCue improvements

The OP is the innovator / inventor of the digicue and OB cues was the outlet HE chose to get it to market. Just thought you should know before you go being "sure" about to much else.

The elusive Balabushka gold glitter wedding band ribbon rings

and or connected to cloth....when finished over, the majority of all the ribbons i've tried, the fibers tend to disappear against black surface and epoxy penetration. the closest i've gotten to what looks real is ribbon with an edge treatment on it thats semi ridgid. Basically the metallic...

The elusive Balabushka gold glitter wedding band ribbon rings

It is grosgrain ribbon.....period, end of story. I've obtained miles (multiple rolls) of gold grosgrain from multiple suppliers. I've applied some of that ribbon to blanks and finished over it. Its definitely the same thing however his was gold with a bit of other iridescence that i've not...

Cutting sharp points in a cue blank

I would invite you to research “infinity” inlays. Done properly it’s impossible to differentiate manual from cnc. To my knowledge this methodology was brought to cues via Jim Babcock’s vision which was shared with Royce whom helped perfect and bring to market. I know the history lesson is not...

Motor / Variable Speed Controller Question

you'll likely get away with it but you will never get the benefits that 3 phase has to offer nor the benefits of a badass lathe like a heavy 10. The motor is already undersized (in my opinion) for the size and weight of a heavy 10 spindle. You now have a vfd that wont even output current...

Motor / Variable Speed Controller Question

thats a nice one but properly sized and with switches it will be far more expensive than the one you have in the link. I would go with a 2hp GS2 from automation direct.

    Uneven points

I agree...pick any cue builder in the world. An 8 pointer with those specs...guy has 3 forearms to practice on and I bet he can’t get point tips within 20 thou on a final turn without sanding. The wizard in Florida wouldn’t take that bet and his mill / fixture is probably tram and true to microns

    Big old maple

Eric....i'm not sure if you ever run any smaller saws (18" or less) but if you do then you should try one of the new stihl saws with the quick adjust bar and chain tightener. They have some type of new flywheel too that makes them really easy to start and the chain can be adjusted without any...

    An Mach aficionados?

    An Mach aficionados?

Do your motors energize when Mach is enabled? If your resolution is high (good) and your micro stepping then the pulse frequency may be more than the lpt can output in which case Mach won’t run them and you will need far more than 25khz. This is the same reason you won’t find ac servos driven...
