List of players for U. S. Nationals

Sad there's only 32 players. The list is strong and maybe that's the idea these days. What are they doing to attract young/new players? Just wondering? Do any USBA Board Members post here? If so, maybe give us an update on your promotion efforts.

My TAOM V10 Blue chalk goes to 11..

Been using damp micro fiber colths for maybe 30 or 35 years. Maybe micro fiber cloths weren't invented that long ago. We used terry cloth then. On my table I vacuum first, then come back with the slightly damp cloth, if in the mood for the extra work. Like how long ago did I wipe this table...

My TAOM V10 Blue chalk goes to 11..

Love Taom chalk, but if you think just because your bridge hand no longer gets blue means it leaves Nothing on the table that can change rebound angles? CB or OB Think differently. You still need to clean your table. I got lazy and didn't vaccume my table for maybe a week and noticed basic...

    Overcoming Frustration

Bob, You first say "Concentrate on the process rather than the outcome" Then you talk about "making the shot .. properly" I think you're correct on concentrating on the process/delivering the cue tip. I think you saying "making the shot" distracts from the real goal of delivering the cue...

Questions about the the history of ball in hand

The rule was collecually called "Roll Out" A player that didn't have a shot could roll the CB to a position that presented half a chance. The oppoent took a look and decided to take that chance or give it back.

Questions about the the history of ball in hand

I first picked up a cue shortly after becoming a student in Carbondale, IL in late 1973. Carbondale is about 25 miles from Johnston City. The most popular game in Carbondale at that time was 9Ball. All played (without some negotiation) if shooter fouls, the opoenent has the option of...

    Inside and outside English

IMO the terminology is: If Kicking the CB to a cushion its called a number of things, running, reverse, natural... If sending a CB to an OB is when we mention Inside and Outside English. If hitting an OB on its left side, left hand English would be called Outside. If attempting the same...

How High Or Low Do You Cue For Maximum Spin And Had Dr. Dave Ever Studied This?

Semih Saygıner says, well, I can hit places on the CB that nobody else can.

    Cue shaft talk

Luckily there's nobody that makes a CF shaft for any of my playing cues. I may be able to convince somebody to do a special pitch, but why? I play with Dieckman shafts, solid maple. Dennis learned some things screwing around with Steve Titus.

    Beeswax or Bondo

I say Bondo if you have a permanent spot. Bees Wax is easy and why its popular. Durham is easy too but... Bondo, if mixed right and applied properly, will not cause future problems. I use a 3" wide razor blade scraper to take off the excess. Make darn sure you get rid of the bees wax first...

For those of you using chalk pouches...what brand are you using?

My son gave me a magnetic gizmo that has a really nice rubber/magnetic holder for your pocket. The chalk holder part is humongous. I was given a Taom magnetic thingy that had its issues/advertising, so I now am using the rubber pocket magnet and the metal chalk cup that comes with the Taom...

Why Your Skill Doesn’t Matter in Matches - Just in Practice

Exactly what I got from his vid, and what I'm working on. Deliver the tip to the CB target is paramount. If you can't do that, then there's something else needing work. Pocketing the ball isn't the goal. Delivering the cue tip on target is the game.

    Verhoeven rail bolt torque specs.

Yes, I'm that anal about torque. Torque measurment is a dynamic measurement, not a static measurment. Meaning the fastener must be in motion when torque is achieved. If that's a fact, then if you try to check/audit torque, the fastener must be moving. You mentioned Prevailing Torque...

    Verhoeven rail bolt torque specs.

I'm glad you made your comment. I went back to what I said and of course there is an argument. In the scenerio I described: Running down a bolt with a power tool then coming back with a click wrench to finish it off. If the wrench clicks before the fastener moves using the above process...

    Verhoeven rail bolt torque specs.

I believe all major cordless brands of Drill Motors come with a clutch. I'm happy with using a drill clutch, if the mechanic comes back with a torque wrench to finish the bolt, rather than relying on the crude clutch on a drill motor. The clutch on a $200 drill motor will not clutch out better...

    Verhoeven rail bolt torque specs.

Ya, years ago I was setting up torque control power tools at a tractor assembly plant and one of the parts was a rubber clamp sandwiched between 2 metal plates, the bolts were something like an M8. The torque spec was for a M8 Grade 10.9 from some bolt chart. Not only could I not reach their...

Building a cue for prosthetic hand

Don't know anything about that stuff other than a quick search. IMO the player not only needs something durable, but needs something that doesn't allow slip in any direction. Urethane is an option with high abrasive resistance. Problem is, its hard to find "off the shelf" 1" or 1-1/8" tubing...
