Having shaft diameter reduced - worth researching "the right shop?"

So you are talking about rigging it to just remove a small amount off the pro taper section, supposedly, and assuming it even is a pro taper. You are just hacking the shaft geometry. Resizing should not change the way the hit feels. That is a rig set up I would never do. If you change the pro...

Having shaft diameter reduced - worth researching "the right shop?"

Don't matter how you hold it, most used shafts don't run true enough to turn them just .01" over all.

Having shaft diameter reduced - worth researching "the right shop?"

There isn't a lot of shafts that will run true enough to turn them from 13mm to 12.75mm, and even if they did that allows nothing for finishing the shaft to playing condition. I doubt any experienced cue repair shop would even try. It's an easy enough modification, but nobody is turning it.

White dots in the epoxy finish

If it's gassing, which I think it is, then the sealing job was inferior before finishing.

    Valley 1-piece cues any good?

If you have a local repair guy just have them fixed with better material, maybe juma. Beginners and intermediate players use those mostly and when experienced players grab them it's for breaking most likely. You have cheap ferrules, no pad, and funny looking tips. They don't have a chance. If...

    Battery powered light needed

I'm in NC on the coast and hurricanes knock out our power several times a year. I have my breaker boxes, 3 of them, wired to a RV plug on my back deck where my generator resides. Just plug it in, fire up the generator, and use whatever electric I need in the house.

    Diamond red label vs blue

I don't see why you can't get the stop and drop cue ball action on the red label,,,,,,,,, rails don't affect that. I have a red label myself and I'll guarantee you if the rails are original they have lost response and probably have hard spots as well.

Best way to check if a table is level?

Level vs level enough is not always the same. I've seen tables show level with machinists levels but balls roll offline a bit in places. I've also seen tables leveled with a carpenter level and playing card shims tweaked by slow rolling shots at pockets and close to rails and the like that...

Tip Contact Location Difference between 9-Ball and 14.1

I haven't read the thread and don't particularly care about the product or the science, just observing that the pattern on the left infers more running cueballs while the pattern on the right suggests more stun or stop shots. Th rh pattern is straight pool.

    2001 Jerry Olivier Cue

I've owned 2 of Jerry's cues and they both played as good or better than any other cues I've used. Not crazy about a lot of his designs, but they all play equally well.
