    Cue ID help

My photo seen here is of my 95-09. The butt sleeve is linen based and has a larger "grain" or weave to the fabric base than the ferrule does. The weave can be easily seen in the ferrule and butt sleeve, I was unable to get a good pic of the ferrule. The cue weighed 20.6 at time of purchase and...

Joss Cues - Custom or Production

I was looking at these cues a while back... it was my conclusion that the custom were still cnc rounded inlays but a very low production 1 of 1, etc... and that the hand made had the sharp points in the forearm. Cost wise you don't get discounts ordering directly from Joss, or didn't when I...

Very Special Sugartree by Eric Crisp “The RE60"

Eyes wide open to a spectacular design. That is very nice. I love the woods and how the colors draw your attention up and down the cue. Looking for the imperfections wasn't even in the mix until after I saw what was "going on" with the cue. A new drug is hitting the market... I think I am...

    My first cues!

Looks like very nice work. It also appears that you are well on your way to being hooked on building cues. I look forward to seeing more. Do you have ideas for your personal shaft taper or have you developed anything yet? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G850A using Tapatalk

    Shoes

Red wings has some nice shoes as well as boots. I go with the insoles they sell there as an add on. The worx steel toes with inserts are more comfortable than my Asics running shoes... I wear the boots all the time whether at work or not. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G850A using Tapatalk

    First cue tip install

Oh yes I totally agree. I meant I would do the tip myself next time... major work goes to the maker... or a suitable substitute. There are a few here that do okay tip work. Refinish, new shaft, etc... I think I will ship it to someone here on the forum to do. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G850A using...

    First cue tip install

Needless to say, my custom will never have any other work done on it by anyone other than the maker, or myself (tip). Here I are the finished products of the 2 that I did 100% of the work on and my custom that I had to dress up after someone else "fixed" the tip. That's the before pic...

    First cue tip install

I tried to send you a pm with pics. I also posted a thread a while back I think on my tip replacement job. I also had to repair a bad tip install and fix the shafts clear coat on a smeared drip of superglue that the repair man swears he didn't do... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G850A using Tapatalk

    The BIG Mezz shaft thread!

If you could also provide the balance point distance from the joint, that would be great too...many thanks. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G850A

    The BIG Mezz shaft thread!

Anyone have joint diameters, weight, and balance points of the 3/8 - 10 style 700 and 900 series shafts? I saw on another thread that the United styles were about 3.8 to 3.9 ounces. I wanted to see how the shafts would effect the overall balance point and weight of my cue... Thanks to all...

    Cue tone

Tip hardness by brand is posted in Meuller's catalogue in their tip section (for what they carry). The catalogue is available on line, but I never checked to see if their tip hardness values are posted there. When shopping for a different tip, I look at what I have shot with as a "known" and...

    Stroke training aid

Hello everyone. I was wanting to start doing the bottle drill and have been looking for a good stroke training aid. I thought of using a graduated cylinder, but those were a little pricey. A friend suggested I try looking at the local home brewer's supply store... It turns out that was a great...

    Stroke and fundamentals tweaking...best drill?

Mr. Lee. I had reviewed the video, but, I recently watched several sections a bit closer. All of your advice given at various times in the lesson is of course spot on. I have been working on everything you mentioned...apparently just not nearly enough. I reviewed my own footage taken of my...

    Tip replacement DIY?

    Tip replacement DIY?

... If I was going to do my own tips by hand I would use a hand sharpened wood chisel . I would have my wife or friend hold the cue upside down and straight up and down on a block of wood and I would trim the tip to the ferrule with the extremely sharp wood chisel.. And I would take great care...

    pernambuco?

Try looking at the end grain photos on hobbit house Web site and comparing to what you have. He took an in depth look at a piece he suspected of being different than the pernambuco. Old violin bows were made from this, and highly prized. Perhaps research of those would help with color variations...
