I have measured the Shore D hardness of 3 Elk Master tips. Here are the single results (as mentioned in Shore D): 69/77/79 Average hardness for the Elk Master: 75 Shore D I doubt the result of 68.8 Shore A.

Wow, 55 Shore D. That is significant softer than an Elk Style cue tip. Must feel like rubber; how can you play with such a soft tip?

I think 3/4 snooker cue means, that the joint is in the lower quarter of the cue. or in other words: the joint separates the cue in a 3/4 and 1/4 part. This way, there is no interfering contour when the chin touches the stick.

Jviss, that is a wide-ranged list; very interesting. I guess hardness is measured in Shore A? Do you have more infos about it? Shore A is ok, but Shore D (for harder materials) should be better. Each Shore scale becomes inaccurate beyond 90 uom. And some tips seem to hard for it. Regards. Olaf

I think – ceteris paribus – the smaller the tip shape radius, the more you can go off center and the more you can give the cue ball spin. Absolute minimum in tip shape would be the radius of the ferrule. Regards, Olaf

Chris, I will do it. After 18 days of hanging I just have checked the two cues on the left. No change in straightness, sticks are still curved. :( Waiting for a heat wave; will also treat the cues with water steam from time to time. Maybe that will support a straightening process? I mean steam...
