    *an* origin of "mezz"

Interestingly enough, the English page has more information about the company than the Japanese version. Perhaps we have more demand and curiosity for this sort of information.

    *an* origin of "mezz"

As a Japanese person, I can tell you it doesn't mean that, but it does make for a nice piece of translated marketing. The lettering scheme the name uses implies it's a borrowed word from another language, my best guess being part of or an offshoot of foreign word.

    Oiling cue tip

Are you contacting the flat side or the bevel side on the ferrule face? A common misinterpretation of Japanese single-bevel knives for cutting leather is to match the flat face to the flat side for a flush cut. There's some airplane wing aerodynamics analogy here that I can't quite articulate...

    Oiling cue tip

Alongside billiards, leathercraft is another primary hobby of mine, so I'll leave a few thoughts here. You can find some of what I work on here if my credentials/knowledgeability are suspect. Even in the leathercraft world, the realm of oils/conditioners is incredibly hazy; there are few facts...

Predator Revo to be offered in custom configurations

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuMyAEsbNhc The intro commercial shows an unusually in-depth look into the Revo factory, and more excitingly, a new offering that appears to have gone under the radar compared to their new set of balls. They claim to offer any joint, any vault plate material in...

How to fix "cloudy" black leather wrap?

I work with leather often, and I would say just to leave it alone. It would all start with what kind of leather the wrap is - that determines what sort of product you should be using. Car upholstery leather is not saddle leather is not garment leather. I can't even try to make a guess based on...

Tip Burnishing Liquid, to use or not to use?

This is a good point. There's no magical secret sauce within the burnishing fluids. Gum trag itself isn't particularly magical either in terms of the seal results over water, and comes out a fair way of the cost of the burnishing fluid. CMC (carboxymethyl cellulose) is a similar diluted fluid I...

    Benefits of a hard tip

From a materials standpoint, these two are not advisable. The objective of burnishing the sides is to flatten the grain by forming a barrier through the combination of moisture and friction. You can get a little bit of burnishing just through friction, which is what is happening when you rub the...

    Mezz VJC Venom Jump Cue?

This one looks more like the Air Drive shaft, the Airshooter has a brass ferrule and wood joint. The Air Drive shaft wasn't piloted though.

Looking for review Mezz Ex Pro shaft ?

I don't have anything negative to mention about it once the wallet stops bleeding. I think aside from the cost difference, it will come down to how much deflection you want - If you want the least that a 12.5mm, pro shaft has to offer, then go with the Ex Pro. If you want medium low deflection...

Looking for review Mezz Ex Pro shaft ?

I prefer the ~12.5mm, pro taper style shaft, and went through the Mezz catalog. I've used the WD700 for the past few years with a HP2 in the mix several times. I didn't enjoy the HP2 so much because the carbon fiber insert made it feel crisp, but plasticky, so not rich in vibration. It does move...

My U.S. Open experience this year.

I've been observing the event through live streams of Naoyuki Oi's buddies. One comedic point that was made was that while he was practicing and feeling quite confident with the break format, Niels Feijen came over and asked what in the world he was doing. Naoyuki and the other Japanese players...

    Mezz united vs standard 5/16x14?

I've never seen a Jacoby butt, but if there's space for piloting, it most likely will. I haven't come across a 5/16x14 butt that doesn't take United yet.

    Low cost radial pin cue

I ended up having Newsheriffintwn make me a 5/16x14 - radial 2" midpiece extension adapter so I could continue using my Mezz butts on the Revo. I do like the resulting overall length. Took roughly three weeks to have it in my hands, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Mezz Kai Break Cue, Mezz UJ-8P

Mezz Kai Break Cue Used for about half a year, I just can't shake off how comfortable I am with the shorter Power Break II. Taom tip installed on the Deep Impact II. There's a slight ding in the shaft near the joint collar, well past stroke zone. Slight cosmetic wear near the rubber bumper as...
