As we know, for several years now, the WPC has been hosted i Quatar, and will be so until 2021. Can someone from the WPA please explain this decision and the thought process behind it? Specifically I (and I suspect others) would like to know how this fits into a plan of growing pool as a sport?

There are next to no announcements, coverage or even interest surrounding pools biggest and most prestigeous event. Even diehard fans know nearly nothing about whats going on.

Qatar pays the WPA sanctioning fee, which helps to keep the WPA afloat.

YEP, simple as that. The Gutter, oops, Qatar pool/billiards association puts up a lot of $$ to bring this thing to their their little Sharia s^*thole. Its run by some gov't ministry. Yee-haw.

The WPA website has always been garbage.

I finally got thru on his esnooker site. Matches start tomorrow. Anybody know the time difference off-hand?

I'll try and update the wiki article regarding the draw. Reliable sources are very hard to come by.

Good thing that you guys update wiki. For years there have been scant info about the annual W9B but I see it is much better now
