I have a Jacoby Edge. I've never tried another LD shaft. It was just ok until I installed an UltraSkin PRO on it last week. Then it became great. I also love the taper on it.
To the op...Depends on your taste bc my opinion is almost the exact opposite of the azer ive quoted who im sure like me has tried just about every common ld shaft. I would rank them ss360, ob classic, jacoby hybrid...then the rest of the ob line and then predator. If i were you i would not even consider lower end stuff...katana, etc

I second that, Ronnie Powell from Que Perfect cue makes great player. I own one a custom QP cue (EW06-0001) model with two shafts. Both shafts plays great and the craftsmanship on those cues are one of the best of the industry.
I like the WD700 shafts from Mezz on my ZZSP cue and the BD SS360 shafts from Bob. Right I am testing a OB120 cue with a OB1 shaft, so far I like it very much.

The thing about these is are you after the highest lowered deflection? Do you just want a good firm hit? Do you just want to be able to say you've got a ton of engineering in your hands?? Do you want the most action on your cue ball?
I find it very hard to shop for a LD shaft because other than the information the seller tells me it's all marketing or they're compared amongst other offerings within the company that sells them.
I personally have been using a Z2 with a very used kamui brown medium which I imagine would be playing closer to a hard right about now which I find awesome. I own a 314-2 and a 314 pre cat that I want to compare against the Z2, I kind of know how the Z2 differs but I don't know how I'll be able to preform with the other shafts. I think the 314 or 314-2 would be good for money games as the amount of english I put on the cue ball isn't as crucial when making the ball (I play with about 1/3 less english via position on the cue ball when using the z2 for seemingly the same effect)

I'm playing with a Mezz WX900. For me that's the best shaft i have tried. I really like the 12mm tip diameter, 11.75mm is on the thin side with a closed grip.

OB vs Predator
The only LD shafts I've tried are the Predator 314, OB1 and OB classic. I personally like the OB Classic and have done away with the 314 all together. I have also changed the tips on all of my playing cues to Kamui, I am using a Kamui black clear SS now but haven't made up my mind to stay with the SS or drop back to a Soft. The Kamui black tips are a little harder than the Kamui browns. Just my opinion.
