Famous last words of everyone who bet on Darren the last time, including Scott Frost! Have you seen Danny play? He banks balls in that aren't supposed to go AND controls his cue ball! His opponents think they've played a safety and the next thing they see is the coin moving Danny's way! Yeah, he made some mistakes and Josh and Darren both capitalized on most of them, but nobody, NOBODY moves and keeps the heat turned up like Danny does! Not even the almighty Scott Frost

You sound like someone who made a bet on Danny and won. :D

It was 8ahrad. If darren is playing 1pocket and practises for it then he'll beat danny, he shoots to straight and his cueball is too good I think. Hard for danny to out run that.

Darren essentially said the same thing. Well, he didn't brag about his cueball being too good. One of the things about Darren that I like; he doesn't brag a lot.

I don't doubt for a minute that Darren will be back for a rematch with Danny.

It seems that New Orleans is an attractive spot for the big matches. www.poolactiontv.com has been streaming some of the matches. More to come for sure.

I think Darren is scheduled to play in the $100,000.00 first prize 8 ball tournament in China next month so it may be after that if it takes place at all.

Daz and Danny played even 1 pocket that was fight night 007 i think 10k set Danny won easy
but i heard Darren wants a rematch after the 1st of the year and raise the bet it is just hard for
somebody like Darren he plays rotation games most of time and very seldom plays
1 pocket Danny plays it almost everyday

Well hopefully they quit dodging Jhall and finally let him play this fight night. If Danny can beat Jhall I'll be homeless the next day.

Danny has been the underdog in the last 3 FIGHT NIGHT MATCHES he has played. I doubt if it will change until and if he beats the big dogs; but for a young pup, he sure has a hell of a bite.

Is that the Chinese 8-ball event (as in the "game Chinese 8-ball) that Potts won last year or is that something different?

That is the biggest 1st place prize in pool I have heard about in quite some time. The only comparable prizes I can think of are the old WPC World Championships back in better years.

I wish pool would shift pro pool more and more into 8-ball as the main game played at the pro ranks. With tighter pockets becoming a standard the game is perfect for pro pool and brings ALL of the aspects of pool to the table, ball potting, safety play, strategy, banks, no soft breaks, ect... And it brings familiarity to the masses with regards to pro pool as 8-ball is THE game played by the general public (non-pool players in the pub messing around with their girls friend and/or buddies over a few beers). It also links pro pool to the league system as league is "almost" exclusively 8-ball pool and that is what pool playing amateurs play.

Much like golf, the amateurs should be playing the same game as the pros, the only difference being the pros are playing the game under tougher conditions. In single player sports where you are not directly competing with an opponent's own skill in each moment you must have a tough field of competition to make sure each competitor is given ample opportunities to compete and thus increase the number of samples/attempts at the table and increase the law of averages and ensure that the player playing with a higher level of skill is the likely victor of the day and is not beat by a small sample size. Pool is unlike in Tennis or Basketball where the difficulty in the game does not only come from the field of play but the constant situations and difficulties your opponent can put you in as you both play the game at the same time and affect each situation your opponent is in. The field of play must be tough.

Here's what Darren said on AzB last month about his 1P match with Danny Smith: "But the match with Danny I traveled the world for months playing rotation and didn't have time to play one pocket for 4-5 months .. Went there thibking I be ok get through day one and I be ok .. But because I'm not a one pocket specialist I forget a lot of obvious shots and that cost me.. It will not happen again .. Was my own fault agreeing to play the Match straight after U.S. open 9ball and coming of a big stretch of tournaments and travel .. So I didn't have prep and the energy and gas left.. But danny well.."

Unfortunately, I don't know much about this event, except one other thing. Oscar Dominguez was invited and is going to this event as well.

8 Ball is a lot more interesting than rotational games. In 8 ball, you at least get the opportunity to decide which ball you shoot next.

It's still a break and run contest unless you do what they did in the China Open did and close those pockets up to where they can't cheat the pocket

...and don't forget that they also round the pocket facings (like snooker) so that balls don't go in down the rail.

C8B is a very challenging and interesting game.

You would be WRONG!

You may be right but he beat both handily, I think the Appleton game could be close if Darren plays good. I think it's funny how everyone underestimates Danny. It's like how everyone used to view chris bartram. Anyways it makes for action which is good.

That's when you know your playing it right
You take their money and they still think they can win . It's good
Customer management. I've played this one guy and won 4 or 5 times gambling and
he still likes to tell me why I can't beat him

Many other people think Darren will beat Danny next time because he will prepare specifically for the next one pocket match.
