AzBilliards' Year in Review for 2008

It's New Year's Eve on AzBilliards. Well, at least in some parts of the world. I just saw the fireworks go off on TV in Australia.

One can't help but look back and remember all of the happenings of the year 2008 -- the good, bad, and the, oh, so ugly! :thumbup:

Here's my top 5 for the year 2008:

1. Loss of "Fast Eddie Nelson" a/k/a Paul Newman.

2. OB Cues Slogan Contest (fastest growing thread ever)

3. Outpouring of never-ending affection for AzBilliard's number-one poster: Smorgie! :smile:
4. Announcement of CSI Tour (hope for a legitimate, self-sustaining pool tour)

5. Brand-new look to AzBilliards Main Page, with cool additions!

Okay, those are the ones that I can think of at the time of this writing. I am sure there are many more. Here's looking to 2009. I wish you all happiness, good health, and a prosperous new year!

My top five:

1) Jay Helfert announces his book "Pool Wars" near completion

2) The DCC moving to the Horseshoe Casino.
3) Busty almost wins his 1st world title, and in 14.1!!!
4) TAR still here and kicking, spurs many more live streams.
5) Would the "real" Bartum please stand up.

My favorite thread of the year had the Kieth stories that you posted up JAM. Thank you. :thumbup2:

Losing Paul Newman, aka "Fast Eddie Felson" was the low point. The man had class that you generally don't see these days. Really nice guy too.

nope, I had 6 siblings but I accidentally killed them all so I'd get more toys at Christmas.

Its a tie for 1st.
1 A, getting my computer to let me post after 2+ years.:smile:
1 B, letting loose 2+ years of AGGRESSION :angry: with my first post...
1 C, reading all the replys to my first post. (the guy that took the time to count all the grammar mistakes had me ROLLING for days

, I still dont have spell check)
2, not getting banned after my first thread. :smile:
3, not seeing any threads (for some time) about people getting robbed :thumbup:
4, Smokeys thread about helping the kids...

(this is really #1).
5, well 5 is really a low point; Smokeys thread not working

. Not only did I start (almost) the same thread at the same time. I just cant believe 10,000 people (darn near) couldnt make somthing happen.

My top 5 or 6 or...

These are the top 5 things I think of first, when I think of AZB, this year.... Okay. Six.

1. Smorgass Bored made me laugh... a LOT.
2. Smorgass Bored got a bad grade in HIS health.
3. When I came back after going missing for a while, I noticed there were raffles on this forum!
4. I was recuperating from heart attacks and cancer surgery (and all the costs), so we were unable to go to the SBE in VF. That was tough!
5. TAR and all the great streaming videos we have available online, nowadays! Now, we can watch pool, too!
6. Just when we thought we made it to the end of the year without any major grief, we were hit by a tornado.

2 Sad - Paul Newman dies. The biggest pool movies of all time.
3 AZB King challenge matches. Great way to bring people together.
4 CUBC vs OMGWTF match. Awesome trashing and thrashing.
5 TAR streams, and all the forum posts from people at the scenes. Thanks for keeping us informed on the matches and happenings at all the big events.
