Classy case with great patina:

Viking. Cloth divider that is beginning to separate at the top. (It's not going anywhere and something more snug can be quickly rigged-up.) No key. Couple of nicks at the top. One thin, black scuff on the body. Lock and feet show wear from age and use, but they still function perfectly and look great to me.

Easily the best pattern I've seen on one of these Viking's, and a nicer piece of skin than you'll find on many of the big-name cases, if you can find one.

Really beautiful case here... no longer for sale friends and family or postal money order.

I've never seen one of these Viking cases with real skin, let alone anything beyond embossed cow hide. If that is indeed real Python I am impressed!

For what it's worth, I have several of those same cases that look exactly the same to me. They are a very well done fake of real snake skin. I have only seen one with real skin but it had a Felini style felt interior. Upon close examination that case probably has 2 very thin dividers, thus a 1x2. Often times one gets pushed up against the side so close you cant see it at first glance.

Yes, they are nicely done fake skin. And it is a 1x2. I have the better version of this case with the thick felt lining.

In addition there were several grades of these Viking cases based on covering, lining, and hardware. The best had thick linings and were as good as the finer cases we know like Fellini et al.

Viking in fact did sell 1x2 real leather covered cases, including real python. I want one. Seriously. Have been looking for one. I have one like this in mint shape. It isn't

Find me the top Viking case in this style, with real leather, thick lining, and I am your customer, especially if it is python.

Scroll to the bottom of this catalog to see the specs on the cases. You will see the real python case. You will also see the grades of lining used.

Viking never produced a case with the thin lining and real python covering.


This is a very cool case. It is an earlier case than the catalog I posted. I am looking for a real python Viking case and/or their top leather case.

Nice case.
I have never seen one with real python either. I have had several over the years, none genuine python.
