I just had a GCIII installed in my home and everything is great except for one of the short rails makes a thud sound when hit and is clearly dead. This is not a rubber issue because all the rubber is brand new... what else could be the culprit and how can I fix it? Would like to find if I can easily remedy this situation myself or I need to have these guys come back out and figure it out.

Thanks in advance

Check under the rails for missing/loose railbolts

A dead sound when ball hits a specific rail

The more specific your question the closer you will be to your answer. If you really meant the entire rail (cushion) acts dead when hit I'd suggest checking to see if the rail bolts are tight. If you actually meant a specific part of the rail or cushion acting dead, I'd check to see if that part of the cushion is loose from the rail. There are actually other possibilities that can be listed but would be far less likely and quite time-consuming for me to list. The two that I've mentioned are the most likely causes.

I felt around the rail and nothing felt loose at all, I will mess around with it some more tomorrow and see if I can get some more specifics for you all.

Thanks

You might want to check the length of the rail bolts in that rail, take one out and compare it to a rail bolt from another rail, to long of a rail bolt will appear to be tight, when in fact the rail will be loose;)

Sounds like the cushion has come unglued from the rail in a specific spot...if that is it, you can do a spot fix.

The easly fix is if the rail bolts are loose or too long and not tightening up. But I doubt that is the case. I would contact who ever put the new cushions on and have them fix it.
