Has anyone else had a go at http://www.poolcomps.com I was quite suprised how good the game was and the physics is very good not perfect but much better than any other i've seen.

I joined up for the weekly $10,000 tournaments. For a 1 off payment you get to play in 4 $10,000 tournaments per month. If you havent seen it before its worh a look. Check it out.

First tournament starts on Friday 27th October.

Look me up for a game, my username is scaryman

Well this is great. We can't even get real world pool tournaments to pay the players but we have $10,000 virtual ones.

I wonder if Efren is as good at online pool as he is in real life.

I read in one of the post that the prize money will be held and guaranteed by the WPA. So at least we know, we win we get paid:)

On the member benefits page they also mention $100,000 online world title coming November.

Are you talking about lining the shots up with a ruler?

I think for the big cash tournaments most people will use a ruler. I use one sometimes myself. But a ruler won't help your ball selection and position play, the better players at poolcomps play real pool and have a better idea about ball selection.

I think its good value anyway, small membership fee and large prize moneys.

Just visited for the first time. I agree best graphics i have seen. Good stick control mechanics and leaves some aiming to the imagination. They need to figure out a way to eliminate the ruler trick. Maybe a shot clock.

I used to play a few games there every morning while getting my coffee fix, haven't been there in months.
When did they change the name from improveyourpool.com to this?
There's quite a few Azers that frequent that site, or at least used to.

I woke up in the middle of the night, came to this thread, and then checked out that site. That was the first site I tried since Yahoo pool. No comparison. It blows Yahoo out of the water. Using a paper or ruler is a must, IMO. Even with the paper, I'm still way worse off than in non-virtual pool. If they gave you the shooter's view instead of the view from the blimp, you wouldn't need the ruler.

There is a 45 second shot clock in the multiplayer game. For the Major tournaments I think they should cut it to 30 seconds.

I play every once in a while, but I've found quite the opposite on the site. Although knowing the game and how balls should react, and how they can be made to react with eachother is definately an advantage over guys that have never played the 'real' game, I've also found that there are lot's of things that are possible (almost easy) with the online game, that I would never consider in a real situation. In some cases, trying to play the online game with the same mind set as you'd play the real game leaves you at a disadvantage when playing against some 13 year old gamer with a ruler.
Long draw shots always draw well, being 'jacked' up doesn't affect accuracy, super thin cuts with a ruler are easily made. It's basically a game of "if you can see it, you can pocket it" which makes the ingrained tendancy to play shapes and position not very important.

I think improveyourpool.com was a separate website. Poolcomps.com used to use the domains www.cashpoolcomps.com .and www.poolcompsonline.com

I used to play their daily tournaments, free entry and 1st place is like $30usd. I took 3rd/4th a few times. It's a race to 3, alternate breaks. Basically, there are a few break shots where you make a ball every time. Whoever gets the first break, if they are a good player, wins the match. Many times, I've broke and ran out every time it's my break in a tournament, and I've had the same done to me. I sent them an email telling them to randomize the break, and they said they will work on it, because you can do the same break over and over, and get the same exact ball spread every time. As long as you don't hook yourself, you are ok. But it does require some knowledge of playing position.

My user ID and password for improvyourpool.com, works with poolcomp.com.:)

So they must have changed names. I think poolcomps is a better suited for what they are about anyway.

Do you play there much? Im just wandering if I've seen you there.:D

Received a check?

Has anyone received any money from these tourneys? Who owns the site?

I haven't played in months, rather suck at real pool then the Internet kind.:o
I won a couple tourneys, money took about a week to show up in my Pay Pal account.

The site is endorsed by the WPA and WCBS. I made the semi's in one comp and got paid that day.

Besides the $10,000 weekly tournaments they will have the $100,000 online Official 8 & 9 ball world titles.:) coming in November.
