10 ball ghost

Can someone clarify the following for me concerning Joe's drill?

Are balls spotted that fall on the break, or do they stay down?

If the 10 is made on the break is it respotted or is it a win (I imagine respotted)?

Lastly, on a general note....if someone is playing the "traditional" nine-ball ghost are any balls spotted that are made on the break? If the nine is made is it a win?

Thanks in advance,

Doug

I don't break at all this way everytime I shot I've got 10 balls to run.

No offense Bazarus, but it is more difficult to break and run 10 balls (with ball in hand) than it is to just spread 10 balls on the table and run out. I practice running 15 balls in rotation by "spreading" them out (no balls touching) and run out somewhat frequently, but my run out average goes way down if I try and break and run.

In 10 ball ghost the balls will tend to have more clusters, balls on the rail, and probably greater separation, than if you "spread them out".
Regards,

Doug

I know exacly what you mean, however I can't break the balls when I practice in my apt. simply because it makes to much noice. I have to pay for pool time to practice my break ;)

I do agree with the spreading of the balls compared to the breaking of them and do sympathize with Baz on the old apartment situation. Here’s a tip for you Baz, rack them good and rack them in an order like this.
1
7 4
6 10 5
2 8 9 3 Hey my rack came out crooked, more Racking Secrets!
Just make sure the 4 is frozen to the 10 or it’ll stick when you break’em soft. Only hit it hard enough to get the 2 and 3 to come off the breaking end rail and not back past the side. It won’t sound any louder than your typical shots.

As for the rules questions, spot all balls if you foul on the break, the 10 stays down, it’s treated just like any other ball.

Egg just curious, what are you guys rated and what did you score? I've seen all level players go 20 pts over and under but I do think I should consider raising the bar a little because there are more players playing at higher levels now a days. We'll add something like this
World Class at 90,
Pro 80,
SS70,
A 60
B 45
C and below the same.

I see, good tip. So you don't spot any balls on a good break?

I think it should be something like this...with the fringes being A-/B+, etc.

85+ SS through pro
73 - A
60 - B
40 - C
20 - D
Under 20 beginner or social player.

Are you playing on Valley's?

This really depends on the table.

The pockets are the biggest factor in this drill. I just tried it once, and while I was very distracted, I still managed to post a decent score; but all the tables in my hall are Olhausen with Granito felt... anyway heres my first try:

1. 10
2. 10
3. 9
4. 10
5. 10
6. 3
7. 4
8. 4
9. 5
10. 10

At first I was breaking decent, and then I think I started mud racking myself because nothing would drop.
