Souquet broke in rack 16, no shot on the 1-Ball
Staab missed a pushout situation he took from Souquet, Ralf runs the table until he lands safe on the five. Misses a 3 rail kick.
Staab clears the table to equal the scores at 8 each

Staab makes a break and run in rack 17 and goes to the hill with Ralf one game behind

Staab breaks rack 18 and misses a tough cut in the side after the break - a relatively easy table welcomes Souquet

Souquet ran the rack after Staab's miss

Souquet is in the driving seat, 7 balls away from glory

The tournament is the 10-Ball Masters held in Cologne. It started on friday with 128 players, group stages, double elimination in the main round and single elimination in the final round.

Amongst others played: Ortmann, Feijen, van den Berg, Chamat, Engert and the top german players

Total purse was 13,000 Euros, as posted above 5,500 for the finalists.

Staab plays in the second nationwide league, I THINK he's 23
He competed in the 14.1 World Championships as well

Staab is born in 1985. He has a 137 as his highest run in 14-1, and has 7 b&r's in both 8-ball and 9-ball as his highest.

He won the European Youth Championship in 2001, in 14-1.

On the Eurotour he has a 9th, at last years Netherland Open, as his highest finish.

He has for example played Tony Drago three times on the eurotour, and won 2 of them. One exciting match I saw with him was against Marlon Manalo in the Eurotour Chezk Open, where he lost 10-9. Manalo tied for 3rd in that tournament.

I'd love to give you more tournament updates - if there were more tournaments worth enough to write about over here.
That 10-Ball Master was the first tournament in Germany since ages with world class players signed up and big money involved. (Not to speak of German Grand Prix and Euro-Tour)

There will be another 10-Ball tournament real soon, but not too much known by now. It will be held in Oberhausen (close to Cologne) and is called the "Brunswick European 10-Ball Open" (backed by the german Brunswick dealer Billard Beckmann)

Entry fee is 125 € (instead of 60 as in the Cologne event)
40.000 Euro purse is guaranteed if 200 players sign up - 5.000 for the winner

30.000 Euro purse if 150 sign up
20.000 Euro purse if 100 sign up

There will be an one hour exhibition match between Ortmann and Feijen on Friday 13th of March
Apart from those there aren't many rumours about already signed up players

Yeah, please give updates from that tournament.

I wanted to go for that tournament, but I am not allowed to play pool for atleast a couple of more weeks...

Will most likely go to the Eurotour in Sindelfingen though. Hope to see you there!

Sindelfingen's poolclub is host of the German Eurotour round.

25 - 28 Mar, 2009 Diamond Nine / Dynamic Italy Open Castel Volturno Italy
20 - 23 May, 2009 Diamond Nine / Dynamic German Open Sindelfingen Germany
19 - 22 Aug, 2009 Diamond Nine / Dynamic Austrian Open Rankweil Austria
16 - 19 Sep, 2009 Diamond Nine / Dynamic Netherlands Open Weert Netherlands
14 - 17 Oct, 2009 Diamond Nine / Dynamic Swiss Open Payerne Switzerland
02 - 05 Dec, 2009 Diamond Nine / Dynamic Costa del Sol Open Malaga Spain

Probably the most professional European Tour with good money and world class players

I'll keep you updated about the Oberhausen Brunswick event Roy, though I most likely won't be there as I have a league match on saturday. The exhibition is limited to one hour due to the tournament schedule (group stages)
Sindelfingen is quite a distance from my hometown and it clashes with the last matchday of my league - and we have to celebrate promotion to a better league then, so I won't be able to drive a car on sunday;)

PS: Look at my stats in my signature, I don't even dream to enter one of those events

Can you make break and run one table, you can do them all ;)

If it is not too much trouble, can you please start a new thread one day about the league-system in Germany? Would love to learn more about that, as I think it is one of the best leagues and systems in the world when coming to produce new talents.

As I understand it there is different divisions, for players even as young as 12 years old, with each player playing 1 match every week. After the year, if you have more than for example 50% wins, then you move one division up etc.

The German Championships have qualifiers all over the country, right? Can you please tell me how many players join these qualifiers? During the European Championship for Youth in Kiev, Ukraina, a couple of years ago I was told that there were thousands playing those qualifiers... (I got this information after a few beers so it could be very wrong...)

Am I correct?
