10 ball

Southpaw, I think you fail to realize that Stick is partly to blame. Had he simply said, "I didn't realize how this is yelling" and conformed to what has become standard practice online, we would never have so much silly banter. Perhaps, if you owe Stick so much, you can go over to his place and remove the Cap-Lock key from his keyboard so he doesn't run into this problem again. Otherwise, he will forever be a target whenever he posts ANYWHERE, not just azbilliards.

Jude, Stick is like 147 years old and just didn't realize he had the caps lock on. He does more for pool than most everyone on here. Just because it's expected of you doesn't mean you have to be a ***** in every thread.

This was his first response:

WELL EXCUSE ME, DIDNT KNOW I WAS GETTING GRADED ON MY POST, IS THAT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO THROUGH AND CORRECT PEOPLE, LO LO LONLEY LIFE, IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT READ IT [UP YOURS!!!!}

Yeah, good luck with that.

ok perhaps this thread has got a bit out of hand. but now stick knows posting all in capitals is extremely bad ettiquete and very annoying he should stop doing it and everybody will be happy. :D

if he continues to post in caps then regardless of how old he is or what he's done for pool he's going to piss a lot of people off. me included. and on any internet forum not just azbilliards.

I guess its just giving a little leeway and respect to the elderly. They can sometimes leave their caps lock on and not know it, much like the turn signals on their cars. They might also get a little cranky from time to time. I often overlook your shrewd and sarcastic posts because you are from Brooklyn and I know that people from there just act like that sometimes.

edit: this comment about people from Brooklyn was out of line, I appologize.

Thanks, stick. I really was just having fun with you, and you seem to have a good sense of humor. You also seem to have some pretty loyal backers out there. This thread has made me laugh all day.

As far as your question goes, I'm under the impression that 9-ball and 10-ball have the same rules, just 1 more ball and a different rack formation.

Here is my use of caps:
IF I had known stick8 was 147 old then I might not have made my original post. Please tell me how I should know that he is older than a wooden pool ball. I would request that you go to stick8's house & adjust his signature so we are all aware of his 'situation'.

IF I had known that stick8 is the godfather of pool in the SouthEast then I might not have made my original post. I have never heard him mentioned before. By the way, I thought Mike Janis was the godfather of pool in the SouthEast.

IF stick8 would have said, sorry didn't know forum etiquette because I am an old man, I would have apologized for my original post & no one would have commented further.

IF stick8 other 740 posts on this site would not have shown that he does understand lower case vs capital letters, then any argument for him would hold water.

and finally

IF I ever live to be as old as stick8, then I still hope that I can see any letters on my keyboard or screen. Keep on pecking, woody.

For what it is worth, my post to him on capital letters was not meant to cause the reaction it received. I was merely trying to help him become a more viable member of this or any forum.

Actually, I'm not FROM Brooklyn. I live there. I'm from Manhattan but I guess that's just a technicality.

With respect to what you have to say, unfortunately, we're not in a poolroom, we're online, so what we've done for pool simply doesn't translate. I really wish it did. Trust me, it would benefit a lot of us. But you can't expect people to look at the name "Stick8" and think, "oh, this guy must be important!" All you can do is let him know and move on.

I know there are some people here that really enjoy my sarcasm and others that don't and I actually use that feedback to help shape my responses (really, I do). In regards to this thread, I decided to go with humor as opposed to the name-calling that was going on. I don't think it's appropriate to attack someone based on age. However, your friend Stick8 should simply view this as an entertaining, nothing more. There really is no point in getting all worked up about something as silly as this thread.

Not trying to start anything, but....

Doesn't another one of our friends on here use all caps all the time? I don't find it particularly offensive, especially considering the fact that a person can be an a-hole whether they're typing in all caps or lowercase, and there have been a few on the forums in our time. I don't think stick was trying to be offensive, but some people who are not quite as computer literate as others just don't take the time to type properly, and learn the "rules" of forumspeak. Just my two pennies...:)

Good post. Regarding our other friend, if I'm thinking of the same guy, they tried to explain to him too. In the end, it became clear that he didn't mind if it bothered people, even the people who were trying to be nice. I ended up just putting him on my "ignore" list so that I wouldn't have to see his posts. :(

As for Stick, I actually enjoyed his attitude in this thread. He came down a little hard on Watchez, which I felt bad for, but I enjoyed his sense of humor in some of the other posts. I think it was nice of him to compromise a little on the Caps thing too! ;) Stick8, yer alright with me, buddy! :D :D :D

Mike, I expected your reply and hoped you would admit to doing this in public.
I too, often, walk up to perfect strangers and politely offer the correct action(s).

But I don't yell at them loud enough for everyone in the pool hall to hear me.

How else are the newbies to learn?

But stick8 is not a newbie. ALL CAPS isn't much different that having to listen to badly broken english being spoken in the local convienence store. It comes with the territory... You have to be able to deal with it.... and in most cases, we are mature enough to 'deal with it'

...the first time I ask nicely and quietly. But if someone asks and the offending party says "KISS MY A$$" then the second request is not as private. That was what I was doing.

And newbies on a forum learn from the old farts giving them advice.

And no broken English is nowhere near as annoying as all caps. I don't know why they bother me so much, but they REALLY do!:p

And Stick8....Thank you very much for not yelling anymore!!!:D :)

MM...going to the fridge for another beer.

Thanks

are there not a rule ---that you call shots in 10 ball??

Not that I've ever heard of. There may be an occasional individual tournament, like one Grady had a few years ago where that rule was in at his discretion, but as a general rule, no rotation game is call shot.
