Looks good Watchez! Best of luck! How many players have been coming each month?

Have some extra flyers at Teachers in St. Peters during the GAT event on July 8th and I'll take them with me and start putting them around on the IL side.

Thanks,
Zim

This is basically the first one with the handicaps. I am still hoping to get a couple of out of towners even with the ratings. Check your PM's.

Eydie has been kind enough to offer to email the tournament info to her 'followers'. THANKS EYDIE!!

Thanks Eydie...wish I could repay you with the same.

I don't know if you have any fliers at Riverbend but if not I'll mention it, might be able to round up a few guys to play.

Just curious, how do you determine what handicap a player is?

I am pretty confident in my knowledge of most 'known' players of the St Louis pool area scene. If there is someone I am questionable about then I will ask a reliable person to help in determining there handicap. Last tournament I had a person tell me that their friend should be a B not a C as originally ranked. Hopefully the honesty will continue when there is a player in doubt. I will always rank an unknown player higher than I think if that is my only option.

Any help you can give in promoting would be appreciated. I wasn't able to get to Riverbend last weekend do to some prior commitments but I know they have a lot of good players out of that room.

You got my number if you need me. I always have my little black book with me!:D

3 Time Jr National Champion Justin Bergman just told me he will be there. I guess it depends if he wakes up in time.

#24 ranked WPBA Sarah Rousey will also try to make it but is under a tight time frame due to the WPBA event in Peoria on Thursday & some family commitments over the weekend.

Zeeder is also another possibility & think he has other motives as he wants me to take him over to look at the Nissan 350Zs.

Midwikkid is a definite.

tournament saturday

If things go right I will be attending, along w/bring some ppl from the Rolla area with me up there. One of which is the guy that is wanting to play Justin some sets. What do I have to play as in the tournament Saturday?? Just curious so I can get ready for the big event.

I would think you are a B since you play in the Gateway NO A Player Tour. Unless someone tells me otherwise.

Also received confirmation today from Andy Quinn- 3 time Missouri State Champion, former Jr National Champion, 2005 BCA Open 8 Ball Champion-will be in attendance.

I am going to see if Bob is able to get this Sat off. If so, what would he be rated?

Would love to see you all!

I would have to think that he is borderline between A and AA player but would have to ask someone else. I dont consider him in the class of a Justin or Andy but I know he plays good bar pool.

Chuck Ralston has also told me he is gonna be there & Tony Fargo might make his way up.

Sounds like this tournament is taking shape pretty good. I"m definetly looking forward to making it up there tomorrow. With Andy, Chuck, and Justin there, should be something to watch after I'm knocked out of it.

RESULTS:

20 Players showed up which is not bad considering that over 300,000 people in the St Louis area were out of power as of Friday afternoon. The pool room itself, Side Pockets, was without power for almost 5 hours on Friday & I was having my concerns that they would not be functional on Saturday. Luckily, the pool room is very close to the Ameristar Casino & I was confident that the electric company wouldn't let all those slot machines be shut off on a weekend.

1st Place - Paul Hopfer $480
2nd Place - Andy Quinn $240 plus winner of $140 side pot
3rd Place - Jake Embry $160
4th Place - Justin Bergman $100
5th/6th Place - Joe Woolford/Ed Grote $50 each

Paul played superb throughout the day, especially in the finals when he beat Andy 9-5.

Thanks to all those that attended. Next tournament will be Saturday August 26th. Hope to see you there.

My life turned crazy when the storm hit Wednesday, just got electricity back this morning. I wasn't able to get to Rivervend to tell them about it, but I doubt if it would have mattered much since everybody in this area got hit pretty hard. I think if you could get some flyers to Riverbend it would get you a few players.

I'm sure you will do better next time, you were jinxed this time with the big storm hitting just before the tournament.

Later,
Al
