As it turns out, those older line cues were pretty wise investments 7-8 years ago when you could have picked a lot of them up in the $700-$1500 range. Many of them seem to have doubled or tripled in value. As for the future, who knows? A LOT of cues are priced extremely high nowadays(I'm talking market value). Are they good investments ?? Only time will tell. :smile:
If you are looking at an old BB line cue for $5000-ish, it had better be pretty temendous, with a lot of work and ivory in it. If it's a special or one-of-one cue with a good amount of work (or made for a pro player), then it's probably a much safer bet....investment-wise.

Sean is absolutely right. A couple/few years ago, you could get a 4-pointer with veneers and some small ivory inlays for around 1500-1800, all original, with two shafts. I bought 4 at that price back then...and a couple higher end ones (one LOADED 4-pointer, and one six pointer), both of which I bought for under 2800. The 6-pointer I had is my avatar pic.
Nowadays, though....you'd be hard pressed to find one at twice those prices, at least.
I think they're great cues...but my personal opinion is that the pricetags on them are so high, the market for BB cues is now regulated to a chosen few with VERY deep pockets. Hard to tell if they've reached the ceiling yet...but I suspect that they have (at least for now, what with the foul economy and market).
I can tell you that each BB cue I've owned played fantastic. Happy hunting, sir. I had a blast while searching for mine...and I would imagine your search is gonna be equally fun.
