Just a question here...

If the IPT ONLY paid out 11%, that would be $330,000. Would that be more than the US OPEN?

Serious question!!!

I'm not sure of the total payout for the U.S. Open, and it may be less than the amount you mentioned, but there is a serious difference.

The U.S. Open didn't promise to pay more than they paid and they paid players promptly.

Also, the promoter for the U.S. Open is not a billionaire that won't reach into his own pocket, after saying he was backing the tournament. Barry has been doing the Open for 31 years and only had trouble because of 9-11 and a hurricane.
What is KT's excuse?

Yep it is. If memory is correct it is about twice what the US Open paid out. He had $72,000 added.

I would cash the check and hope another would follow.

Jake, the amount is irrevelent, it is the principal and the way things have been handled. To compare the two purses is useless unless you are trying to make KT & Co. look better. How dishonest could the guy possibly get? How many lies have been told? How many people have been screwed Jake? That is what is important. At this point it ain't about the money! It's about being conned.
Respectfully yours, Purdman

Yes, it would be more than the US OPEN.

I'll be the first to bite though, What is your point?

Oh now that is one of the funniest posts I have read in a long time.

Money is irrevelent? To whom? To you and me? Surely you do not mean pool players.

Principal? The guy who runs the school?

Principle? Maybe one of these days I will run across a pool player who has principles.

Is everyone saying that KT is just a rotten no good con man and it does not matter that he was convicted and paid his debt to society? He will always be a conman? There is no forgiveness in your hearts?

Cash the checks and donate half to charity. Speaking of charity I have yet to see a "Toys for Tots" box in a pool room.

I have.....a couple of years ago I played in a tournament at Boston Billiards Club in Worcester, Ma and not only did they have a "Toys for Tots" box but there was even a Marine there in his dress blues helping with the collections. The flyers for the tournament noted that this would be the case and IMO they had a very successful collection day there.

Jake, it is very obvious that you neither know the right pool players nor frequent the right pool rooms. :(

What I find interesting, he says the players will get paid in installments. Since 11% is a third of 33% hummmmmmmmmm feels like, sounds like 1/3 on the come and that's all she wrote.

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

One thing we can count on,Dec 8th is going to be intresting. I'm not going for it cause HE said it.

The Truth Of The Matter IS:

I'm most upset about the 11% payments because of the 'gozzinta's'. I have alot of trouble with how much 11 gozzinta $3,000,000. I have worn my pencil into a stub trying to figure out how 11% gozzinta $5,000..... $150,000 and $500,000.
I wish that KT would pay 10% or 50% and then I could follow along..
Doug
( if Doug gozzinta the refridgerator 16 times in a day, is that 11% )

11% of 100 is 11 dollars
11% of 1,000 is 110
11% of 10,000 is 10 x 110 1,100 dollars
as so forth
for every $100 you get $11
so Rodney money would be 110 x 150 + $16,500

But whats interesting is it 11% of your total or 11% of your balance once you got the first payment, nothing is in writing???

hummmmmmmm
Which means if Rodney got the 16.5 and then you took 11% off the balance of $133,500 the next payment would be less $14,685.

Damn what is the point of this thread? Fleece if you went to work tomorrow and at the end of the day your boss told you:

Sorry, I can't pay you today after all like I promissed. Then he told you,15 or so various things much of which turns out to be bs. Then finally it looks like you are going to get paid and he tells ya.."Hey I am going to pay you now 33% of what I owe you in three monthly installments" Would you not be pissed as hell? I am thinking you would be;)

To complete the analogy, his boss would also have to say, "Hey, up until now I paid you more than your last job flipping burgers. So, you got that going for you, right?"

I REALLY had no point. It was just a question.....Imagine that, a question posed without an agenda.

Well let see....

If I had a job that paid (lets say) 50k a year, and some guy came along and said "I will give you 500k a year for doing the SAME job". Then at the end of the year he said "Fleece, sh*t didn't work out, I can only pay you 33% (or 166k). I would stand there and pitch a b*tch, yell, scream etc. Finally, i would snatch the check from my EX bosses hand and walk out with a smirk on my face. Why??? Cause I am up 116k.

However, this was not my reason for the post. I was simply asking a question. Now that I have recieved that answer I will say this....It is a damn shame that a promoter can default on 66% of his promised pay (let me rephrase that. To date KT has defaulted on 89%, as only 1 payment has been recieved) and STILL have a greater payout than any other event. Pool players are drastically underpaid

That has happened to me and a lot of others. It's a fact of life and it happens sometimes. Doesn't mean it doesn't suck though.

I had an employer want me to take a $200 modem in exchange for 3 months of back salary. I turned it down and then never got the modem or the three months salary.

Unfortunately though, the players are probably not employees and so that's not a valid analogy.

But businesses can't or don't pay employees a lot more often than you would think. It's a fact of life and most people just move on.

Cheers,
RC
