13 Banks in a row

I just got done watching a match of Truman Hogue vs Shannon Daulton short rack banks from the Derby City Classic. Truman had a nice string of 13 banks in a row. Anyone hear of something higher than that? Anyone see any other great bank pool matches?

"Once Truman gets some beer in him, uh excuse me, gets in gear..."

How prophetic on Billy Cardone's part. That's a great match to watch. I think Eddie Taylor had some record of 37 in a row, but not sure if that was in a match or gambling or what  Pretty sick nevertheless...

37 is right!

Eddie did bank 37 "gambling with a guy in Asheville NC when he was 19! At $2.00 a bank, he banked 12, 15 and 10; without a miss. Damn strong!

sounds like an unbelieveable performance by truman.

the best banking ive seen was by varner against daulton in the challenge match at derby. i cant remember the stats, but he made about 20 banks in his last three innings (doesn anybody remember the exact stats on that?) to close that match out on tight pockets. phenomenal.

As i said the daulton varner challenge match is good (full rack), but my favorite is the tough to get your hands on Mark Tadd vs Jose Parica short racks at the LA open. Parica plays well and pulls ahead, and tadd ends up running a couple of the racks (not consecutively) and steals the match.

Truman Hogue was absolutely incredible in that match after the first game was over. That's my favourite bank pool match. Another great one is the Jason Miller-Piggy Bank Rogers set. Miller makes 10 in a row and then 5. He also defeats John Brumback two sets in a row on that tape.

Both of them are well worth the money.

Was the 13 banks done in a full rack, or was it short rack, where he ran 9 and then ran 3 more? Because bank pool players break and run short racks of banks all the time.

Re-read my original post. It was short racks at DCC. :p

Truman stole the thunder

While Truman Hogue was banking out 2 games in a row and then banked 3 more for a total of 13, I was playing, I forgot who, I think it was Richie Richardson, at the same time in the middle arena. Truman was playing Shannon on the featured single accu-stats table in the front of the tournament room. I heard these loud cheers for Truman while I was making an extremely difficult bank trick shot. No response for me. I make another super hard trick bank. No response. More cheers for T-man. Now I'm getting a little warm, now I'm actually looking for super trick shots. I make another one, but they are still roaring for T-man. I think to myself, what the hell is going on back there? I later found out why no one was paying any attention to my match, T-man had almost run out the whole match against Shannon. When I ran into Truman later, I cursed him out for shooting so good and stealing all the thunder. His apology ran something like this, "Don't feel too bad, who the hell would want to watch an old washed-up short-stop like you when I'm playing?" That's my boy, T-man.

Well, i used to think i banked good.

Actually, in light of things, i DO bank pretty good, but that didn't stop me from getting crushed this one time.
Banking good as i soon found out wasn't everything there was to know in the game of bank pool.

I was playing Howard Vickery in the 2001 Derby.
I won the lag, broke, made a ball, and banked 5 and out.
Then i broke again, made a ball, and banked 5 and out.
Then i broke again, made a ball, banked a 3pack and chowed an easy straight back with position on a duck cross corner.
So in a matter of not even 10 minutes, i had banked 13, and was up 2-0 in games in a race to 3, and 3-0 in balls.

And from there, not having taken a shot yet and being stuck like that, Howard then proceeded to stick it up my ass and absolutely TORTURE me.

With me taking the occasional flyer, selling out a duck.

SAFE SAFE SAFE SAFE SAFE SAFE SAFE!!!!!

It was unbelievable how tight he put the screws on me.
It was SQUEEZEMANIA!

It felt like i was being suffocated.

You want to talk about being disgusted.
I was ready to hang myself after i lost that one.

BUT it was a lesson well learned, and totally put the game of banks, and all the skills needed into perspective.
I thanked him later that year at another tournament i played him at for torturing me the way he did.
It totally upped my knowledge of the game.
