How much longer will a good cloth last on a table with only 14.1 played on it, compared with the same cloth on a table where only 9 and 10 ball is played on it? IMO if they stopped playing 9 and 10 ball the leading brands of cloth would lose at least 50% of there sales. Johnnyt

Breaking 9/10 ball racks will wear holes in the cloth, as you know. But there is another problem brought on by the racking templates, the cloth seems to wear out at the spot much faster. Of course there is an obvious solution to always use master spots. If you forget, the cloth will have a hole in no time flat. There is also the matter of the unsightly chalk trails towards the spot from the breaking area, and the wear and tear on the balls from the force of the break and other hard shots, wich indirectly causes more wear on the cloth. Not only is the rotation/8 ball games harder on the cloth, but on the other equipment as well. Cues, balls etc..My private aramith ball set looks brand new, a little faded maybe, but with no chips/cracks of any kind and I bought it in 2003/2004 I believe. I play 14.1 pretty much exclusively with that set.
