Can anyone give me a few diagrams of some basic break out shots in straight pool? I am a little lazy to look for past posts about it. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I dont know how to do the diagram so ill try to explain some break shots.
Any ball over the top 4 pockets (nearest the stack that is), works. The classic break shot is aligned with the middle diamond on the side rail and the outside diamond on the top (or bottom depending on your perspective). Of course this is within in a few inches. I havent looked at blackjacks post yet (probably should have) hes probably got some good stuff. But above all be creative, if you can't manufacture a "classic" breakshot then look for something that might work. I guess this where advanced position play comes in, knowing exactly where the cue ball will go after contacting a ball. anyways good luck.

Nevermind what i said, blackjack's post is much better

but dont forget those hanger breakshots. Buy,or borrow, Phil Capelles Play Your Best Straigh Pool, over 400 pages of straight pool knoweldge its great. It teaches you everything from position play, break shots, pattern play (lots of pattern play), a bit of the mental aspect to the competive aspect (and more!). I have no financial involvement with this book.

CueTable Help

I love the side pocket break shot, but many people would rather not bother with it.

Well, this isn't working as well as I thought it would, so here is the code:
