14.1 National Championship Slated!

So the winners of the qualifiers go to New Jersey and have a National Championship?

And the top two in New Jersey are already qualified to go to the World 14.1 Championship in August, if Charlie Williams has one?

Does anyone know if Charlie has started scheduling the World 14.1 and qualifiers for it??? I understand that there might have been a funding problem. Does anyone know if that has been resolved?

Dennis,

Yes, qualifiers go to Comet in NJ for the NCS 14.1 National Championship. Each qualifying event can send 1 or 2 players depending on the amount of entries at the qualifier.

Yes, the top 2 at the Championship earn a paid spot in the worlds, but the main intent of the NCS is to have a bonified 14.1 National Champion, and the 2 spots in the worlds are just icing on the cake.

I have heard nothing about funding problems at the worlds myself.

At DCC, Charlie Williams said one of the people that had donated money was not in a position to do so this year because of the stock market. He needed to find another donor. If someone has his ear, they might want to inquire.

I did not know that but it doesn't surprise me. When Randy pulled out we were lucky to have another donator step forward last year. But one has to wonder how long the worlds could go on as a donation based event.

IMO, thats what makes getting the NCS 14.1 event off the ground and successful that much more important. It might be one of the only major 14.1 events to be held on US soil. If the worlds got cancelled, it has no effect on the National Championship Series 14.1 National Championships.

Happy Friday Everyone :)

Kevin, your absolutely right. The icing on the cake at the NCS 14.1 Continuous National Championship are the two spots to the top two finishers to the World 14.1 Championship. Personally, we have not heard anything of the World Championship having problems.

However, while excited and appreciative to be associated with the world championship, the NCS 14.1 Continuous National Championship is also its own tournament separate from the worlds. All NCS national events are about true open national championships. Open to men, women, junior, amateur and professional. A place where players can test themselves against other players from around the country and also know they earned their position to play at the national level.

For instance, the participants at the NCS 8-Ball National Championship which was just held this month at the Golden Nugget was not only a beautiful event thanks to the venue, the tournament directors Bill Stock and Ken Shuman, but also due to the wonderful play and professional attitudes of the players themselves. The matches did not dissapoint and the talent was very evident. That is what had the spectators come back each day. They enjoyed themselves :)

Too long now there has been a disconnect between the local, regional and national. One of the primary goals of the NCS is to bridge that disconnect. To have a national championship to rally behind, bring pride in representing a region, the host room that the player qualified from and the country.

Our sport was one of kings and one which we should all be proud of, it's time to really show that pride to the nation.

Thanks always,
Holly

The 14and1.com Nationals May 29-31 in Atlantic City will be sanctioned as an NCS Qualifier :) Sending the winner to the NCS National 14.1 Championship in Parrsipany with a paid entry.

I also have other 1 day event NCS qualifiers open to ANYONE set up in Latham, NY May 16th, Pittsfield, MA May 24h, and Manchester, CT June 21st. Pre-paid $60 entry, field limited to 16 each event, double elim, games to 100, 1 game finals to 150. Doors open at 10am each qualifier, play starts at 11am. Top 2 qualify to NCS Championship (based on 14-16 field) in each of these qualifiers, both winning $350 entry into the NCS Championship. Each of these qualifier events will also be called "State 14.1 Championships" of their state. I am working on NH, ME and RI.

Anyone wanting to enter please drop me a PM, as the qualifiers will fill up fast with 16 fields! Entries must be pre-paid. You can also email me at kevin@dominiakcuestour.com .

Please check with your local rooms to see if they would like to hold a qualifier. We need to make this work for straight pool!

Update

Thanks first to the 14.1 community for their enthusiasm and support of the NCS 14.1 National Championship. I've receive numerous emails regarding the qualifiers. I will be updating the CSI website in the NCS Calendar section next week to include not only the 14.1 qualifiers that have been scheduled, but also the 9 and 10 ball. This week I had to re-prioritize to complete a few tasks for the BCAPL National 8-Ball Championship and will be more focused again on the NCS by the middle of next week.

Have a tremendous day and please contact me if you have any questions.

All the best,
Holly
