14.1 Safety Play - 2nd Ball Quiz

Now that I think about it. Stu, Dan, and Dennis's answer is a very typical one pocket safety and I have seen Scott Frost do something similar on several occasions. I honestly feel that going up table is going to be harder to control and harder not to sell out compared to the "correct" answer. Correct because I feel it is easier to execute.
Whether one shot is easier depends on what you've practiced. The masse shot to return to the side from a marginal tangent on the 13 may have you bridging over three balls. This is a larger problem if you are playing "all fouls."

I agree Bob, but for me I have shot that shot in one pocket bridging over all those balls more than trying to masse up table.

How about taking a foul while pushing the cb up near the 15 ball if your opponent takes a foul you can send him up table off the 15 and side rail or if he sends you there you have the 5 ball shot or a safe remember with a thin cut on the 5 it's difficult to hold the cue an you can end up with no shot again Chuck

I think the opponent and the equipment have to be considered on this shot as well as the stage of the game. Tight pockets -> put him on the "Brunswick." Or, maybe your opponent can play pretty good close position but has trouble with long shots because he hardly ever shoots them.

You might want to consider your own weaknesses. If it's clear that the sequence will likely end with someone shooting from the end rail, and you don't do that very well, let him be the one to shoot the long shot.
